if you truly want that swing feel in a track you should just turn the quantize off completely. there is no drum machine that could ever give you a real swing sound. the element that makes it swing is the fact that the note/drum hit/whatever bounces off the meter. perhaps i'm being elitist because i ...

is it possible to make a copy of a pattern and put it on another pad so you don't have to do the same pattern all over again?

forgive my ignorance, but i just bought my 404 yesterday.
when you're importing files from a CF card can you make them lo-fi so as to have more than 6 samples on a bank? everytime i import stuff i can only put 6 samples on a bank.
any help would be much appreciated.

is there anyway to play samples backwards on the 404?
i'm especially interested in looping drum patterns and playing them backwards.
you know, some of that acid flashback type psychedelic shit.

so you get an adapter for the mic in that will fit the 1/4 inch input for the bass?
where would you find one of these adapters?

i'm currently waiting for my 404 to arrive in the mail, but i had a question for y'all. can you plug instruments into the 404 (ie. an electric bass) and sample that way? or would you have to say use a microphone and record off the bass amplifier? any help would be much appreciated. can't wait to ...
