I've done this with my solo shows! I'll be looping a beat and triggering samples while playing some psyched out guitar stuff. It rules.

yeah, the first time i tried one out at Guitar Center someone had taken off the write-protect and done that to the high hat, and i've always had that in the back of my mind.

guitar amps mostly cover mid-range signals, don't they? and the 404 puts out all ranges. keyboard amps cover all ranges, as do PA systems. So while your amp probably won't blow up it'll sound kind of squashed maybe. But then again, Battles run their keyboards through guitar amps to give them a more ...

i recorded a song where i was playing guitar through voice trans, and it sounded nuts. certain notes just cut out. it's crazy futuristic sounding.

Sample it going from a low pitch to a high pitch. Then resample with chorus, reverb, delay to make one of those cool rising laser sounds.

I always record at the highest input level I can. The way I see it is, you can always decrease the volume of a sample afterwards and it'll sound fine, but when you amplify stuff it's easy for it to get distorted.

well, i mean, you can just use a cable with two quarter inch jacks and use the headphone output of the sp 404. i mean, if you can't get the rca cable right this second.

when i play with my friends i mostly use stuff i made myself with guitar, keyboard, vocals, random sounds, and effects. if i can find some really interesting sample that people won't identify from some song that i hear somewhere i'll use it but for the most part i don't use samples from other bands ...

you can set it to only start recording when it hears sound.

after a while you get used to the delay though.
