Yeah Acid is kind of like the forgotten step child of sequencing programs. It was the absolute best thing in the world to everyone when it came out in the late 90s. Now programs like Cubase and Protools are more common. But people who use Acid absolutely love it. Usually people who started with that program just keep using it because it's so intuitive once you have it mastered. I'm one of those people. I've never even seen Cubase or the other newer programs. I guess I'm "old-school"... sort of.
I have cubase and acid but they are a totally different thing. Cubase is recording program, yes you could sequence with it but Acid is made for that and is an awesome program when you learn to use it.
Have a look at one basic tutorial on youtube and your set.
I had a little go a using cubase to sequence but i think that its rubbish, for making beats and loops, tho sequencing different loops and part together using cubase is much better

Acid is an excellent program, it used to be the best for sequencing Yes.. It has beaten out the infamous Cubase when it comes to sequencing.. I enjoyed it, I left it behind when Ableton Live 5 came into play.. but now I might resurrect it just for fun.. It's definitely worth checking out..
