i think we could all learn a thing or two we didn't know about our 404s if maybe we listed an mfx that we never use. whoever may post a creative technique involving that effect might then post the effect that they use least often, and so on... i'll start if you alls is down.

Sample it going from a low pitch to a high pitch. Then resample with chorus, reverb, delay to make one of those cool rising laser sounds.

i use bpm looper all the time try it on a sample that plays the whole length of your pattern or measure or set the middle knob to 6 7 or 8 and put it on a drum sample its good for getting a glitchy sound but you can also get nuts with it resampling basslines


c.canceller is mine, im sure alot of people use it but i just cant get it to work for me. for real though i never use the pitch button

c cancler i didn't use for a while, but now i use it to start the seperation of a bassline most all the time, once through that, sometimes twice, i'm still learnin whats best, then the normal iso or eq once or twice, then vinyl sim comp, maybe lofi, which i leave it on along with other pads of the beat

i would have to agree, pitch never gets used, i fuck around with it sometimes for a minute, but i think it doesn't have any beat world applications, at least the way it works on the SP it doesn't

Must try those suggestions.....I like the radio tuning effect for it's 'Danny Boy...Come in Danny Boy' applications. You can also get some stomach rumbling bass effects by pitching a sample down low...resampling it and isolating the frequencies........Closest thing to Sonic Warfare...

canceler is excellent for a low pass filter, way better than iso or eq. take a stereo sample and resample in mono with knob 2 (lo) up and knob 3 (hi) down. then resample it again with the same settings a couple of times (might turn on the fx limiter). You end up with a warm, cozy lo pass filter... I think it even sounds better than the lo pass on the MPC...

word, still using that shit, one thing i've added to the chain though is runnin it through the lofi EFFECT, with knob 1 all the way down, knob two about 11 o clock or so (didn't we decide that was close to a 12 bit emulation?) and the filter turned most of the way/all the way down, i find it kinda takes out some of the boominess that you can end up with when using the c canceler

also been EQin the filtered basslines (usually with the isolator, little tweak to the bass maybe, but more so cranking the mids up to help the bassline sound more rounded and not sound so deep and sub tone-y) with the lofi BUTTON on and then using the just the filter of the lofi EFFECT (guess the regular filter would work too) to get rid of some of the lofi ring, works pretty good for trying to emulate that sp12/MPC60 sound

Nice post! Kind of like the "what are your secrets" post but a bit more specific. Never touched radio tuning and after reading this, its fucking dope. Mix that tweaked live with some reverb and its actually worthwhile. Always wondered why that effect was there.

PITCH - I use this for making pads out of single notes by resampling once or twice by having knob 3 at 12 oclock and knobs 1 and 2 set wherever harmony is made without too much of the 'og transformer changing into a car' sound. However if you put knob 2 all the way up, you can get really neat sounds while moving knob 1.

If you're talking about the other pitch, with two knobs for changing pitch, I use it for same thing, changing single notes into harmonies/chords/stabs. Usually I'll add a little bit of chorus, eq and such after wards. It's also really useful for just making two separate sources harmonize, too, if you put both knobs to same setting or just use the other PITCH effect. But that's the obvious use.

using Lo-fi then using PITCH (21) to take harsh out then resampling again works for me.. kind of the laser effect as stated previous by Koala Form ..
i use the PITCH as main basis for my sound .. lay drums over sample then pitch it a couple times maybe adding different drums over (claps example) making more dominant that others when the final version is to my liking .. sort of polishies and blends elements into the beat

use EQUALIZER (used to use isolator but it's alot harsher) only on drums most times

CHORUS is nice for stereo widening and adds a bit of Charlie Sheen

good shouts on the CHROMATIC .. not really messed with it .. it's similar to how i've been using SUBSONIC for bass.. shouts on the CANCELLER .. it's use and title confused me into not using it .. very good low pass as previously stated

enjoi the DELAY (not on mfx i know) good for the dubbish ruggish
