Re: Preqwal - Dimension Side a 80's synthwave

Lol. It's funny you should mention that. I'm a technician in a secondary school and we actually have one of them. The students can't get enough of the cheesy thing!!!

Re: Preqwal - Dimension Side a 80's synthwave

Cool. Defo play round with it. Ableton is not for everyone to start off with due to it's minimal interface, but once you get into it, it's so quick to use.

the effects are awesome too. You can build your own effect chains. Especially good for live performance!

Re: Microkorg

I have a love/hate relationship with my Microkorg.

Sometimes it can sound lush, other time's it just sounds like ass. 4 note polyphony is whack! it's a pain to program, editors can help tho. Damn minikeys too! But I love the portability and size of it.

If I want to play real size keys, I got my ...

Re: How do you feel about your mixes?

The art of mastering is a total skill within itself! Although, I do think to many people get to preoccupied with it nowadays. Especially when most people working in software will mix and compose at the same time.

You also gotta remember that all those pro beats have been mastered by top pros with ...

Re: Final uploaded mix is really quiet?

hseiken right, everything is overally compressed these days and that's why we loose dynamics.

If you want that loud sound, you're going to need compress the crap outta everything!

Although, if it sounds ok playing from Audacity and you then export and listen to the exported wav in exactly the same ...

Re: interface sending click/pop noises to monitors

Sounds like an Asio driver problem.

Does it pop and crack only in your audio software or when playing back other audio eg. off youtube, itunes etc.?

Re: Preqwal - Dimension Side a 80's synthwave

I've used FL studio since it was fruity loops, fruity tracks and Sim synth all individually. I liked it, especially as the sound were always pretty nice in it and the step sequencer was easy to program.

But Ableton is on another level in depth and the MANY ways you can use it. Only problem is, the ...

Re: Preqwal - Dimension Side a 80's synthwave

Hey guys,

Thanks for the kind words. Was a brave move with such a sudden transition from making beats, but I'm loving this style more and it suits the name I think. Although I am working on some heavy slowed down trap beats which I will share under a new alias in the very soon future

Not on the ...

Preqwal - Dimension Side a 80's synthwave

Hi guys,

Re: Anyone got advice regarding approaching promoters etc?

It is hard to get started, but once you get a few contacts you'll find things start falling into place.

I'd try and find some low key venues around where hipsters and students hang out. I find they're a bit more open to eclectic music. try and put on some free shows in these places. Maybe find a ...

Re: sampling from jack to digital in

I think the numbers reference the sensitivity of the chop. I never used it. I think it's only good for chopping up stuff with heavy transients like drum loops. Not sure you could just autochop into equal slices like the mpc. Auto chop is whack tho!

Re: sampling from jack to digital in

The easiest way to chop is to copy the long sample across all your pads and then change the start and end points of each sample. Much easier than an mpc in which it will cut the sample down and save every single piece. This way you can adjust samples afterwards, unlike the mpc.

Re: What I don't like about MPC's

Lol, I clicked on this thread thinking it would be a bunch of dudes dissing mpcs, but it seams cats are trying to diss you for hating on it

I've had the 2000, 2000xl and 1000. I like the Xl the best but yeah, it took too long to get something done. Loved the pads and for dropping drum loops they ...
