Preqwal - Dimension Side a 80's synthwave

Post by preqwal »

Hi guys,

Been too long since I been on the board! Too busy re-inventing myself musically! Stopped making beats, but onto some 80's synthwave stuff ala Com Truise, Kavinsky, College.

I just dropped a new ep. Dimension Side a which you can find here: http://preqwal.bandcamp.com/

You can also find me on spotify now too :)

I'll be dropping side b in the coming months and there'll be a limited edition cassette too.

Peace

Hey guys,

Thanks for the kind words. Was a brave move with such a sudden transition from making beats, but I'm loving this style more and it suits the name I think. Although I am working on some heavy slowed down trap beats which I will share under a new alias in the very soon future :)

Not on the 404 so much. Using it more as a sketch pad and then moving onto Ableton. I'm noticing the 404 is kinda noisy too!

Cool. I see what you mean. So your using Ableton. Have you been a longtime Ableton user? Been thinking about moving away from FL and start with Ableton.

I'd like to know more about the ease of sequencing and creating change ups in Ableton.

Can you build up a complex song quickly without much hassle?

I've used FL studio since it was fruity loops, fruity tracks and Sim synth all individually. I liked it, especially as the sound were always pretty nice in it and the step sequencer was easy to program.

But Ableton is on another level in depth and the MANY ways you can use it. Only problem is, the instruments in Ableton are pretty whack! But hey, just get your VST's from vst4free.com and you're cooking with gas :)

Allright Ima go on an Ableton crash course this weekend. It's gonna be a challenge getting FL Studio out of my system after years of working with it...

Any tutorials, crucial tips are welcome!

Looking forward to hear the b-side of your project. Diggin side-a :o

Cool. Defo play round with it. Ableton is not for everyone to start off with due to it's minimal interface, but once you get into it, it's so quick to use.

the effects are awesome too. You can build your own effect chains. Especially good for live performance!

Preqwal, now that you're on the synthesized 80s sort of style, you got to get the Roland EG-101

Lol. It's funny you should mention that. I'm a technician in a secondary school and we actually have one of them. The students can't get enough of the cheesy thing!!!
