but honestly, i'm losing hope on ever being able to handle that f***ing 606, so i think i should buy an mpc... the 606 is much too complicated, everything takes sooo much time, is it chopping, is it data transfer, or internal progress, i think it will fall asleep soon... Chop function is useless because it chops all the nice sounds in 2...

The easiest way to chop is to copy the long sample across all your pads and then change the start and end points of each sample. Much easier than an mpc in which it will cut the sample down and save every single piece. This way you can adjust samples afterwards, unlike the mpc.

well, but like i said, i think chopping function on the 606 isn't really good, even if the sample loop edit afterwards is a great possitiv point. why can i change the chop on sp606 between 1 and 10? if i choose 1, i ll get like 16 0.5second slices, if i set chop mode to 2, it chops it to a single pad... well it isn't chopped if it is only one pad finally... is there a system to understand what this machine does with those numbers between 1 and 10?!?
And even if i should get a nice sound chopped (like i really already did once or twice), i do not know how to arrange them nicely in my beat...

I think the numbers reference the sensitivity of the chop. I never used it. I think it's only good for chopping up stuff with heavy transients like drum loops. Not sure you could just autochop into equal slices like the mpc. Auto chop is whack tho!

I use digital in and out with my 24 bit recorder, I for the first time
can record clean signals, without, setting input gains, cutting hiss
or loosing any kind of quality, it even sounds better, 24 bit will
catch new crunch and squeeak, you didnt know you have, it works good
when all your shit is on lofi, then record it 24 bit via digital, then
record it back in hifi to your 606, you loose no quality, only thing
I notice is the machine itself has a noise when you run the compressor
or other noisy effects, it still has less noise then my DAW pre's so
I can run everything into the 606, for less noise, havn't tried it with
a mic yet, just guitar, so , I'll Document my adventures with sound
quality and everything else on here to share. I still need to try
setting up the usb for computer streaming to record to my linux audio suite,
but I am trying to keep it all in the cave, had a few bad trips with the
audacity equalizer, I would eq something with hard hare, and copy the
eq parameters into the software eq, because it wouldnt let me preview in
real time, so all this blind eqing screwed up my shit so I got pissed off,
I shoulda been using real time eq. to master my shit, not some hack job
calculations.
