Re: devices to work with SP-303/tempo, pressure sensitivity

The qy100 is great for programming and I think there might be someone here that has one for sale.

besides for that, there are roland mc's, mpc's and all kinds of other grooveboxes that are great for programming.

A MPD 32 (26) midi controller or Korg pad kontrol will give you velocity control on ...

devices to work with SP-303/tempo, pressure sensitivity etc

I was wondering if people here can give suggestions for any devices to work with the SP-303, like sequencers, or external drum pads. I'm looking around for something like that.

I used to have a Microkorg XL, and sometimes used its tempo knob to control the SP playing (SP-programmed) patterns, and ...

Re: SP-303 OS UPDATE?!

Let me just answer this... in 2018.

I never personally updated my SP-303's OS - the 1.03 version was on there from the moment I got it (I bought it in 2010 but have no idea what the build year is).

I was looking around on the forum for software to be used alongside the SP-303 - (in import/export ...

Sterling Toles (if you like Dakim etc.)

I missed this last year when it came out, but this is a dope, deep album for beatheads, by Detroit music producer and (I think) graphic artist Sterling Toles. He had some influence on Dak/Dakim, which is clear from the music. The album combines recordings of his father talking, news items from/about ...

Re: noise/hum question about the sp-404sx

might be a grounding issue . I'm no electrician, but its the only conclusion I can come up with. might need to take a look at the unit (if you know circuitry . or someone who does) could just need to remove the cover and clean the ports .

is there an input source connected that's turned off ...

Re: noise/hum question about the sp-404sx

Thanks for your replies, all. I guess it could use being looked at, in a repair shop which does audio gear in general. But I don't want to spend a lot for a machine which I intend to sell. I'll probably try and sell it and be upfront about it, have people come by and try it out.

I know for a fact ...

noise/hum question about the sp-404sx

hi all,

I've a question - I was trying to sell my sp-404sx (keeping my beloved 303), and a guy I sold it to me returned it because he noticed a hum/background noise in it, and decided he couldn't use it for that reason. I replied to him that some hum is common in any device which outputs audio, you ...

Here's an SP-wielding Dakim (aka Dak), a cartoon portrait I did based on a pretty old sketch of a few years ago.
Long time since I last logged in here, hope you're all doing good!

Re: Any berlin heads wanna help me out? Need local knowlage

As squ!L mentioned, there's a good bar/club up over Kotbussertor, called Monarch (Skalitzer Str 134). Hard to find the door, but the place itself is up on the first floor facing the metro. (I was supposed to see Madlib there once, performing with krautrock band Embryo, but got a free gig of Embryo ...

Re: dakim vid / setup question

@dishwater
cool this seems interesting, i have to try it on both 303 or 505...why not on the 606 too...who knows...

It works on the 404sx too, I just tried. It's a fun method. It's nice to have the longer delay period that the 404 has as opposed to the 303, as you can have loops that are a bit ...

Re: dakim vid / setup question

I just found out a nice way to record loops that you build with the delay fx, using the resample function, and without a second SP or other recording device.

On the 303:

- Set the machine on a slow delay (t2 or t1) as described above, with ctrl 2 and 3 all the way to the right.
-Set all the ...

Re: dakim vid / setup question

okay cool, i think it comes real close, I'm also getting some nice results with eighty9s settings. I'm also using my 404sx.

I get the best results when the first knob is on T1, the maximum delay. With ctrl 2 and 3 set far right, in effect, you can drop in a sound and you'll hear it on the next beat ...

Re: monotron

I played around with a friend's monoTRIBE yesterday, I think the follow-up of the monotron. It's a really nice thing. Basically a synth/arpeggiator/groovebox and a very basic drum computer with three sounds. You can record sequences on the synth, and use 16 steps to turn off or on any note. Good for ...
