Hey I'm from the uk... Just got to berlin for the first time without any clue of good bars, digging spots hangouts or clubs ... If anyone fancies helping a brother out I'd be really grateful... Thanks in advance

Beatgeeks is an interesting event @ the Monarch. Next one is on Tuesday 19th. Producers spinning their beats and sometimes do a liveset.

Turntable Tutorial @ the Wendel is cool too. Live-oriented hip hop instrumental sets. I think next one is at Saturday 23rd.

All in Kreuzberg. There's probably some hip hop somewhere this weekend. Maybe i'll hear about more events later...

As squ!L mentioned, there's a good bar/club up over Kotbussertor, called Monarch (Skalitzer Str 134). Hard to find the door, but the place itself is up on the first floor facing the metro. (I was supposed to see Madlib there once, performing with krautrock band Embryo, but got a free gig of Embryo by themselves instead, Madlib didn't show.)

Last time I was in Berlin I found a nice bar in Prenzlauerberg called Al Hamra, close to Helmholzplatz. When I was in there they were playing a bad drum n bass mix with the same bassline on loop endlessly, until they finally changed it. Good food and nice vibe though. Best baba ghanoush ever.

In Neukoln there's a nice little italian coffee place called Barettino.

I found a nice vinyl store in Boxhagener platz, not sure what the name of the store was. Had good stuff but fairly pricey. Haven't really looked around for more record stores last time I was there.

I'm gonna be in berlin from tomorrow for one week. I'm in my own and I just want to look around and take in some atmosphere. Anything at all music related I wanna get involved with or witness. Any locals know of some stuff? If anybody lives there and wants to chill that would be cool, maybe we could make an sp beat. Anything at all let me know I dont really have a clue what I'm gonna do
