Re: How do YOU sync your samples?
I've never relied on my 404 for sequencing... either DAW or MPC

Re: Fresh samples are better then ones that have been sittin
this is true
i usually just pull a grip of records maybe 5 maybe 25 and work with the samples I get from those records
when i feel like I've exhausted the possibilities I delete the samples
drum samples are another story though
I take my time and create drum kits and libraries that I can use ...

Re: +++ SP-808 Basics And Users Tips Manual +++
i never used the 808
way back my man had a 808, he didn't make beats on it (he rocks on MPC) but he swore by the effects an sometimes used it to multitrack
how does it rate a s a beat machine ??

Re: Best Sample Flips of All Time?
how about the RZA flip Bob James' Nautilus for Daytona 500 ? I feel like it's one of the dopest loops ever still and when it came out I remember feeling the same way
but definitely RZA's flipping Syl Johnson for Shame on a Nigga should be mentioned as an "all-time greatest" sample flip

Re: Loopmasters.com Your thoughts???
oh I have used manufactured samples before... i can;t remember a particular time but i know that i have..
just that it is in conflict with my philosophy and beat theory
also, im not necessarily concerned with "hard work" ....sometimes it is a lot of work to make your beat sound right but ...

Re: HOW DO YOU GET VELOCITY?
I've always altered snare drums by using time-stretch and resampling the snare
I know it doesn't truly effect the velocity but it sounds good and gives you a natural sounding alternate snare drum for your beat.. another option would be to add a subtle sound underneath your snare.. like a clap EQed ...

LesPasta, what's wack about it? Just curious on your two cents.....

Re: which record settings do you use and why ?
this changes my perspective.. don goldman is very ill
when I sample with the 202 i bounce the audio back to the 404.. i like recording a hard snare drum with lofi 1 and then cleaning it up a little with the 404 eq and maybe compressor
kick drum is a little different, lofi setting doesn't always ...

which record settings do you use and why ?

recording takes with both settings and comparing the samples later
