I made this mistake the first time around with the 202, i bought it in 98 sold it in 2000... at the time I was using it to trigger one shots and loops to record onto portastudio

mistakes of my youth

I used to own both the DR202, and SP202. Bought both of them together, but for the life of me, can't recall how much I spent when I walked out of GC when I did. Sold them both to a friend, along with a JP8000 va keyboard. My buddy a week later, plays us a track he made with all of them, and I felt like I just made the biggest mistake ever!

I love this motherfucker and would rather put it on display on the wall then sell it. I run mine into the 303 and play both live while I record. You don't really need a sequencer just good timing, but I recommend another SP to compliment it. By itself you can spend hours fucking with samples and making quick breaks. Throw in some batteries, sample tunes off your phone and play it through your car speakers. Its like a mobile beat making device lol. Fun shit at parties.

I love how the SP202 was like the most simple and basic sampler you could buy at the time (Besides the Zoom ST224/Akai S20/Yamaha SU200), but you didn't need to rack it, dive into menus, upgrade it's memory(Unless you wanted to), but to me, it's what started the whole SP line. Sure the others improved on the original, but still, I used to love to sample my house/techno vinyls and loop some stuff around what I'd play live at my ex-roomie's place.
