I try lol. Haha. The new cord worked perfectly. I recorded it exactly as I wanted it and all I had left to do was record it back into the SP for some tweaks and effects. I got caught up in something else and ended up turning off both machines for the night. I woke up and turned them on just to hear it while I was getting ready this morning and what I recorded is not there. I did record it properly because I played it back numerous times last night. I swear I'm ready to karate chop this VS880ex right down the middle. It's on some tips. I'm trying to remember if I pressed anything last night while shutting it down by mistake...I don't think so. Even when I turned it on, it started up in a different project than what I turned it off in.

I was kind of pissed when I closed them up so I don't know. Maybe I wasn't paying attention and did something wrong, but as far as I can remember I just did the usual, standard shut down procedure. I'm going to re-record it, transfer all of my beats to the computer today and then reset the VS to factory settings and start over.

that all sucks, mecha. i find sometimes w/ this kind of thing its real easy to get flustered and stuff. best to check thru the hard drive / zips when yr calm and breathing like a yoga instructor. lol.
but yeah, i've had stuff like this happen and it fully blows.

Sounds like you didn't save your work. Recording pieces works flawlessly but if you don't save it, you can just say goodbye to all that hard work.

I know, I know, SPs spoiled you in saving automatically haha, but VS demands your attention at all times. I don't have a VS but my MV operates the same way. If I don't save it, its gone.

Save feature should be with the shutdown feature. Well at least mine asks me if I want to save before shutdown.

why do some producers feel the need to blow up the spot by calling out the samples on beats? leave it alone dog part of the art is the mystery of sound.

@loco we all go thru phases: with beat making and life. If you don't see us posting it just means we are lurking. Sometimes it's good to just let things absorb instead of remaining stagnant and always in the same grind. Another thing to remember is that people consider the SP samplers a starting block for beat making. It seems people feel they out grow the machines and then move onto something more complex. The people who've been here the longest know the best music comes from the tools you've got and not the gear you "think you need". In the end it comes full circle and people ending up selling the fancy gear to get back to their roots.

@Dwight I think they do it so they can evaluate their peers. If you knownthe sample being used it makes easy to compare the work the producer did. I myself, never remember the shit I sample. If you ask me I can give a vague idea but never know the details. But fuckit, it's never good to get wrapped up in the specifics anyway.

i make shure no one finds my samples, i buy a record then google it and if something comes up I dont use it .

i honestly kinda like it that way... i hate it when people join and their first and only post is a question and then you never see from them again... its usually a question that has an answer on the first page of threads or has been asked 1000 times. i like the smaller community.. this forum is so close and helpful its rad.

Haha I was just going through a record to sample and I heard something real familiar. I googled it and no record came up of a hip hop track using it. I racked my brain and I found it on one of those J.Rocc Dilla podcasts. I had no lead other than hearing "Check it out now.......it's your man..." and then I couldn't remember any further. I kept saying it over again and then finally it clicked that he says "check it out now.....it's your man....J Dilla"

I know this is so nerdy but I feel so cool that I could even figure out where it was from. My memory is so bad lol. I only bought the record for like $1-$2 (I'm a thrift store person) and I only picked it up because the cover was cool. It's the last thing you hear on the part two podcast. Starts at about 1:15:10

Wisdom teeth....argh lol. I had to go to a brunch yesterday and a birthday party and I could barely enjoy any of the food because I'm teething again.

I finally got some new headphones. Some guy was selling Sennheimer HD280 Pros for $50. I needed some new ones and was considering just grabbing the big Sony's I would always use as a kid, but those are already $70 and less quality than the Senns. I picked them up last night and spent the rest of the evening listening to The Supremes, Donald Byrd and Bob Power's handiwork on D'Angelo's Voo Doo. I almost died. I bought them for when I'm making beats, but now it seems I may keep these ones for my Ipod and try to buy even better ones for my SP. I know they're not the craziest, but coming from the $14 Sony earbuds that I've been messing with for the past couple years, hearing your music like that is like...a new lease on life.

I'm not used to these big headphones anymore though lol. I had to go into Wal-Mart on the way home and I felt so conspicuous. If you don't know already, I'm veeeeery introverted and I hate when people look at me. I just threw on the attitude face and said f it. By the time I was into like the 3rd song (I was listening to Quasimoto The Unseen) I could care less and was ready to pull a brick out on anyone who was staring at me too long. Haha, I think I even started spitting too. I couldn't even hear myself or anything going on around me and I hope no one else heard me either lol.
