hah, thats pretty bad marketing. How the hell is anyone meant to know that the 404 is a (mainly)hip hop production tool after looking at those ads??

they're pretty funny commercials, though...not good marketing for hip hop at all, but i enjoyed seeing them.

I agree, but then again Roland has never really marketed gear at a certain market it seems like they don't want to get stuck in some niche market.

From the looks of these adds they were aiming for the "middle age men who had secret fantasy of becoming astronauts/train drivers" market, its an untapped market.

cheers for posting

I thought they were funny. But that's because I'm a middle aged man who thinks it would be cool to do that in my own home. In fact, I defy this SP group to do their own home-made SP commercials like this. The goal is to make it funny. Anyone?

hahah I thought they were pretty funny. Obviously they aren't really showcasing what this is capable of doing, just being creative with their commercial.

@Jetson - maybe one day when I have a video camera I'll try to make my own sp commercial :P

Yeah, I can't say they were great for the product, necessarily. But marketing is more than just profiling a product in some way. It's also about branding, and association. Marketers have to fuck with our minds a bit to separate us from our cash, so they use any and all appeals to emotion to do that.
