Now, strictly digging for beat related stuff, I stay in the second hand shops/pawn shops. Everything is either $1-$2 and that even includes full LPs and stuff.

Heheh in second hand shops, you gotta dig through a lot of waltz and symphony orchestra records. Atleast for me. I don't know what it's like where you all look. I can imagine there is more country in some areas.
Yeah Im the same way i was looking for them 2 dollar joints. Country and old butt rock in this area pawnshop. Time to get back to choppin this Willie Nelson at the Longhorn Jamboree.... Nah really Im likin the way this is coming out. 8)

That sounds pretty cool to me lol

Haha Ill, don't worry about it. I come here to just be an artist amongst artists so all that stuff is not important to me. Being a girl has nothing to do with my music, and I would rather not use it as a gimmick and just be on the same scale as everyone else. All that "it's awesome...for a girl" and hype is so useless. I would prefer if people just take me or leave me based on the music alone (which I'm going to update soon with some of my 303 stuff, tee hee).

Besides, how corny would I sound "umm...excuuuuse me, I'm not a dude" with some neck snapping  lol.

i just watched night on earth. the scene with roberto beningini (sp?) was hilarious. he's making this confession to a priest and he talks about making love to sheep and shit. anyway he causes the the guy to have a heart attack, whatever...
but my favorite is when the cop tells him to slow down cuz he's dangerous, he says u got a gun and i got a taxi and i'm dangerous?, i should turn around and run you over... so funny.

LOL! Not so bad, I'll just be like "oh schnap! he's a SHE!" maybe throw a few "wtf"s in there too. But its good attention for you. Us male beat makers are like video game nerds when we hear a female is into what we're into, we be all up over her, its like finding a soul mate. You're right though, music should be the focus before image, which is why I don't like showing my photos with my music. My mom wants me to be like Justin Bieber covers and be all pretty and tells me to don't curse in my lyrics, and I tell her " but Ma, I'm ILL." and she'll say "then go see a doctor." I concentrate not to curse in my rhymes anyway, but sometimes I have to get a point across and it feels good.

Justin Beiber lol lol! Your mom is trying to get you on that gravy train.

My mom found a rap I wrote when I was in like the 10th grade and she was all "What is this? Pornography?!?!" I guess because I had the f word in it lol. It wasn't about anything sexual lol. I was so confused. I just grabbed it from her and ran away into my room. The year after I forgot the Prodigy H.N.I.C. album in her CD player and she was like "what are you listening to!?!?! Looking for a cutie who likes to drink semen?!?!". Trying to corner me and have an intervention and ish lol. I was just laughing at her because she never really took the time to raise me properly or do anything legit with me, but yet she wants to get all up in my face like she is so concerned or whatever lol. My sister was laughing at me like why would I leave it there in the first place lol.

Lol if I told my mom, "Yo mom, check my new ish... it's called 'The Gas Mask Tortures'" I think she would fall out.

Yeah, Moms are old fashioned and seem to never understand a youth's passion. If I had that support since day 1, then I would be in a first class studio right now making my album. Instead, she hit me with the "you'll never amount to anything" routine. She would always critisize my skills and say my music sounds like mud and she'll stick out her tongue too. They made me so angry because they bought my brother a DJ set with two turntables and speakers, the whole 9 for Christmas and all I got was clothes and Wheel of Fortune for the commodore 64. Yet, he could play all he wants and loud as he wants without complaints. I felt they didn't believe in my talents, even though I used to make little shows for them every Friday. Everything in my studio, I bought myself, except the MS-1, which my father bought for a graduation present. That day I felt I finally got accepted.

You rhyme? Is that you on the M.I.C. track of your mixtape? That tape is butters btw, I always listen to it going home after work. Those were my jams back then. My little nephew really likes it. Your beats are undescribable, because its got that old Brooklyn roots in them and you know how to utilize them. I was impressed. I would've thought Pete Rock or Premier was dropping gems. :D

Anyway, I'm not kissing ass, just giving an artist their respect where its due. And your mom will never understand The Gas Mask Tortures, lol! Ever since I saw what the original Exorcist movie did to the people at that time, I was like "yeah, I gotta make an album that'll do that to the people"

I used to when I was younger. Like most people it started out there and then I made a little tape just for myself for fun and I started chopping up instrumentals and turning them backwards and stuff to rap on (Jeru Can't Stop the Prophet is so beautiful backwards) and it evolved from there to now. My homie that passed away used to rhyme and we made a group maybe 2 years ago and she was always pressuring me to start rhyming again. She would even write just one verse for the track and be like "oh, I'm burnt out" so I have to write something to fill it up, but IDK, I don't care for it anymore. Especially as the producer, you have to hear the beat 50-11 times when you are making it, then you have to hear it 50-11 times so you can write the rhymes, then you gotta perform it 50-11 times like it still means something to you every time.

I do freestyle when I'm doing my chores though  I throw on a beat tape or the instrumental side of some records and have a one man cipher lol lol.

Haha, that's cool that you like the tape. My sound has kind of changed a little bit now that I'm on the 303. When I hear the tape now, I'm kind of like "eh..I guess". But it was pretty much a year ago lol, so I should have grown. Plus, being around you guys kind of made me step up my creative game.

It all started because I was on some other forum and they made a Premier beat tape. I made the Just to Get a Rep remix and they didn't pick it (can you believe it lol?! It was so gutter! When I ask people what was their favorite on the tape, they always say that one). I was so offended that I made a whole tape of remixes lol.

I'm working out some kinks with my multitrack recorder, but I have like 3 or 4 beats on it to get tracked out and a bunch of records with sticky notes on them lol. I'm hoping to have a 303 tape done sometime soon. I made all the beats for another tape on FL just before I got the 303 and they've just been sitting on my ipod. I was listening to them today while I was driving and I think I might put them out some time. They need a little tweaking in terms of the mixes, but otherwise, they are pretty legit.

Yes, I do play records backwards and I know what you mean. You have to listen to Pete Rock's TROY backwards, the horn sounds even doper.

When I make tracks and write rhymes, I keep both worlds seperate. My SP-606 is full of unheard beats and I write to those. For beats I turn to my MV and create instrumentals. Later I choose which rhyme fits to a beat and make a track. Its good to practice a couple of days before recording, this way there'll be less takes.

Sorry about your friend, I read about her in a thread you made a while back. I lost a friend to gang violence and I held him in my arms as the blood poured, I try to give him mouth to mouth but he was stabbed through the heart so it was all in vain.

I enjoy chatting with you. Thanks for your time.

Peace
