Woo, okay I get a free day today...I'm spending it with my 303, VS880ex and turntable. I always end up putting them to the side until like late in the night when I have no energy to focus. I'm going to go do some chores and then I'm spending the rest of my day making beats.

Do you guys let people hear your music when it's in the making or do you just like to wait until it's totally finished?

I'm the latter. Usually, I add so many little things here and there that the way it sounds when it's just drums, bass and sample may have a completely different vibe then how it does after I'm done with it. My dude is always like trying to sneak up and put his ear beside my headphones, or sit real close so he can hear what I'm doing and it makes me so mad lol. Whenever I leave the room I always power ish down or like put the VS on a weird screen so that he doesn't know how to get it to play. Although I doubt he would just go play it, but still. When I used to use FL, I would like log off momentarily so he can't play it lol.

I'm the same timing-wise. Free days go like this:
Wake up! I'm going to make beats! Do a million other things besides making beats. 3am - make beats.

I'll let some close friends and music associates hear stuff in progress but usually I try to hold off until it's as done as possible.

i have a huge problem with holding my stuff back,i'm trying to get better. it's hard though to wait months until a project is finished without letting people hear much of anything,'cause obviously one of the best rewards after making a piece of music is knowing that someone is really feeling it..as far as just at home-as soon as i find a dope sample the first thing i usually do is just loop it to a drum pattern i already got on the sp from a prior beat..and i'll play it for my girl or whatever to see if they're feeling the sample like i am..then i take it from there. But the fact you're so critical of your own work is a good sign-the moment you get completely secure with each and everything you do is the moment your work starts getting weaker and weaker.have fun w/ the day off!what do you do,you mind me asking?

I won't say lol. I don't know if it sounds weird or something but I kind of like to keep personal facts out of this side of my life. I don't mean to be extra, just..I dunno lol. In areas of my life where I am a musician, like here, I like to keep separate from my everyday life. Sometimes they can't help but cross over, but otherwise, I don't like mixing the two. I know I sound like a complete weirdo, but whatever. I just like to be able to shed everything from in the world and just be myself. lol I don't even use my artist name as my screen name on forums if that tells you anything about how I stay.

In the real world, I don't really hip too many people to my musician side either. I'm so not the usual suspect so it opens up a lot of questions and analyzing which I'm not really into. I'm extremely private and introverted (working on it lol) so I don't like it when people get all up in my business and make their mind up about me or judge me. lol actually now that I think about it, the way I look and the way people assume me to be is totally not reflective of my personal life, but I don't really care. I actually prefer it that way. I feel like it gives me an advantage in most situations.

Yeah, I see you lol. I'm going to put the computer under my bed or something because time is going and all I've done so far in terms of beats is turn everything on...then I find myself on the computer watching White Girl Mob music videos and cringing...yet strangely, at the same time, I'm bopping my head. Yikesssss.

i hear u..i'm an extreme introvert myself for the most part...i used to be worried about being extra careful on the internet for various reasons-but then i came to the conclusion that "the people" can monitor whatever the fuck you're doing at anytime anyway..so it's like..enjoy the show.

my random thought of the day- i was just getting dressed-most athletic socks are softer on the outside than the inside.doesnt it make more sense to wear them inside out?that what i do,then i fold em over around my heels till they look like low cuts.

Wu Wei (Chinese dissident artist) said pretty the same thing, he had a blog updated like 24/7 with pictures of what he was doing. Kind of a form of protest but the point remains. You want to monitor me? Then you are going to see a helluva lot of boring stuff. Still it's a sad state of affairs (in China and every other nation that monitors their citizens)

Honestly, I don't know why but the chorus stays in my head. I feel her on it though. I heard some of her friend's mix tape and like... they are so ratchet but I can't turn away no matter what my brain is telling me. One of their webisodes is going to go pick up their home girl from jail. The chick is like "my baby daddy didn't come wit y'all?... bitch". I fell out.

I heard she is supposedly getting a million dollar deal with Sony. I hope it works out for her because if that ish don't sell, thats a big tab to pay back, and you KNOW she's going to spend most of it doing some ratchet ish.

Yeah catchy chorus = mental virus, not a dope track. I'm not a fan but I will admit the track is catchy and if I was on the dancefloor (and wasted and was the last man on earth) I'd dance to it.

I don't dismiss pop music out of hand but this girl's delivery and the majority of her lyrics are blaise. Maybe it's my bad for misclassing her as something approaching hip hop. She's cute and stylish but I'm not a fan of her lyrical style, or overall "image". Kei$ha is most unabashedly pop whereas Kreayshawn just smacks of faux gangsta (reppin Oakland no less. Rockridge I'm guessing?) which just feels a bit thin to me. If lady's getting one mil from Sony then more power to her, maybe I need to start rocking a glitter bow and asymetrical cut.

I'm coming off like a real hater in this thread, allow me to present something I'm feelin right now:

Also it's sunny out, I'm going to go bounce a ball against a wall for a couple of hours.
