That's definitely a great idea with the center canceller-since most bass was recorded dead center,never thought of that-that's a really dope idea actually...as far as the subsonic though-unless i'm missing what your saying,if you apply it to a whole sample,chops whatever,it'll just play in one continuous,never ending tone at the same pitch all through the beat..you could adjust the pitch for each chop,but then you might as well just play a bassline w/ the subsonic at different levels/pitches.

you can set the threshold on the subsonic to only come in for kicks and adjust how long it stays on so it makes an actual baseline and if you turn the pitch knob while resampling the notes seem to change. i also notice if you mess with the volume on the sub sonic you get different types of sinewaves like distorted ones , and if you run it into something else with a limiter you can get cool "ripping" baseline notes, by turning the volume up and down till it hits the limiter,

When creating a bassline oriented track i tend to create random synth bass hits and then just play around with different patterns until i find one i like. much like i would do with a chopped melody.

I find that when adding a bassline to a melody oriented track it usually requires less notes. Sometimes all a track needs is one bass note.

I have a few tracks were the bassline is pretty much just a single bass pulse played at certain locations within a bar.

I sample a few notes from a synth or whatever is around me to make the bass; playing over the sample realtime to harmonize it.

Generally, though, I tend to favor just using a simple sine "sub bass" wave to make my own in the sampler.

anyone ever make bass by pluging a wire into your mic jack and then touching the other end with your finger, yyou can get real awesome bass this way too. and fx make it even better. i just figured a better way to make "authentic bass wobbles" i used subsonic with the volume trick i mentioned above, im not a huge dubstep nerd, but ive always been fascinated by good bass wobbles.

heh, yeah, recently had a fun trash jam session, a part of which involved guitar running through cheap fx pedal and sp-303, unplugged the cable by mistake and had really cool bass instrument, too bad the tones could not be changed =]

i like a bit of tuned subsonic under a couple of dif kicks, so you can get dif notes (so like a I and IV, or I and III, etc).

i also like some high-end fretless bass samples, to throw into things.

i also like guitar running thru an octave pedal for a baritone guitar type of sound, then sample a phrase.
