lol "juana" in quotations. Really though if I went to a Madlib show I would expect him to be fucked up playing some weird records saying "where my weed smokers at". I would be stoked, if he was being a jerk to the crowd and not keeping the tunes going as D said that would kind of be lame, but I wouldn't be shocked or anything. If I went to a Dibiase show and he wasn't flipping a 404 on some live beat shit then I would be like whaaaaaaaaaat? But Madlib's never been known to be an electronic music performer he's a straight up DJ. Be regardless of his skill he need to respect his fans and people who give him money to live the dream and smoke weed and make beats all day for a living.

But on some real shit - and with any luck this thread will be coming to end like we already had thought- my original input wasn't as much about madlibs set or how he acted towards people at the show....but he couldn't really have being THAT much of a dick when he gave a pound to the kid that reached up and touched his record/turntable instead of smacking him.I was originally just speaking on being lucky enough to be part of the bill,getting paid-then turning around and trying to embarass the man the next day.Obviously D had strong feelings about it--but with everything Madlib's accomplished and the huge contributions he's made to hip-hop culture, it would have just made more sense to post footage of the show without the barbs thrown in,and let people make their own judgement-that is if it was really neccesarry to post the vids at all. Clearly though that's more than been covered and D and I agreed to disagree. On some even realer shit- mad heads on here wouldn't be making beats at all , or using sp's if it wasn't for Madlib. A lot of his most hardcore fans are right here on this site--so if his hardcore "fans" are so quick to flip on him, it makes some sense that after 15+ years in the game-espesically the thousands that didn't become fans till his good friend DIED- he'd have some reservations about some of them.And while his music career keeps food on his plate, and the "juana" in his lungs ( sorry, never heard that term used for greens)-so does all the years of hard work and endless hours in the lab he's put into it. And his music has literally changed thousands of lives-so the artist/fan relationship goes both ways. All these cats talking shit all of a sudden probably own the entire Madlib catalogue- Myself, I got two pieces of his wax from 98. Just like the kanye thread- this isn't as much (to me) about 'Lib as much as it is about the motivations behind his detractors.....there's one more page for the book..1
