think about jazz; lots of pioneer were fucked up all the time but they did their shows and truly captured the essence of that style. An artist like Jay-z says hip hop is the next jazz and it's here to stay. probably, but we need lots of cats to start bringing that game with them. I've never seen a madlib show and only have one of his cds which i only listen to once in a while. i think he's talented but not to the degree that others might and if you go there expectin the king of hip hop maybe that shit is too much for quasi to handle. in any case he should be able to smoke enough to overcome that. and if live shows aren't his thing, then he should stop doing them.
and all this argueing about artists is like listening is to old men at a table wasting their retirement time away. don't get me wrong it's interesting for a bit but let's try to make a point and move on or as they say in interspace "don't feed the trolls"

Well D- if you came on here other than just when you want to promote something-you'd know i've given mad input to people on this board-from the time I first logged on in 07-till I came back on here a few months ago after being absent for about a year or so. and that input includes giving mad cats respect for their music, and a lot of productuion tips...and providing the samples for 3 straight battles recently just cause I wanted people to have something dope to flip and I love digging, even if I wasn't gonna be involved in the battle....then I finally won one again-and provided the sample YOU flipped-you know, the beat thats got like 80 comments on your soundcloud? So yea, i've done quite a bit to help people on this board..and I've gotten lot of help from a lot of good people as well. And why exactly do you think I called it quits? I'm working on 2 projects now-was just on Elhuanas tape..and my last album was 21 songs deep and came out basically at the beginning of 08-not a long time at all. Just cause i'm not perfroming doesn't mean I called it quits...i dont need the ego boost of a crowd in front of me to keep doing music,i'll always do this shit.Glad you noticed you very rarely actually thank anyone on here- that should be the first thing you say when somenody takes the time to give you some positive feed. And if I didn't "give a fuck" about hip hop and the culture, why would I even bother with trying to show a different persprective and be so passionate about it? I'll say it again- still no one has yet to say anything about having any kind of understanding of a popular artist having some dislike or "contempt" for segments of their fanbase. Madlibs performance had nothing to do with him drinking--it's obvious he was just toying with the crowd and knew exactly what he was doing. And since you two are on a first name basis apparently- then why wouldn't you talk to him about this face to face? You've spent the last two days talking to the internet about it.Jesus man....

V3rtigo- thanks for reading my posts for years, MANG, I appreciate that...but if you know my "life story" and have so much hate for me-- you're probably a person that should be re-evaluationg their morals and ethics.Naw I've never played with madlib..but several cats on his level-and been on albums with several more..I know exactly what dibiase is trying to say. I just don't agree with it. Crazy thing is, he'll argue with me about madlib till he's blue in the face--but the next time he's in madlibs presence-it'll be a headnod and a "whats up?". or something to that effect.

Thats cool..then we could battle on the mic. I've always been more of an m.c. than a beatmaker...It's funny how you've taken this so personal when I went out of my way from the jump to say it wasn't a personal thing and give you respect for what you do. It's even funnier how you haven't responded to any of the most important questions/points I've brought up. But thank you so much for the attention man.

i dont hate u at all kid. its really not personal actually i voted for ur beat in #82 w/o being biased. u got good music . i said open battle not just us 2 acourse. i mean the normal battles because that just where everyone sharpens there swords regardless who wins or loses. it dont validate anything does it at the end of the day. i just rather make music on the open battles on this forum b/c its some form of building. ur missin the point again. mc battles???? what that gotta do with anything. btw i do promo on twitter or facebook do the research. let ur music do the talkin man that speaks more volume. all this extra rhetoric is pointless. peace

You should be banned for calling people kids!! Naw..Just a refference to the 2-3 people that have raised issues with me simply for using the term "kid". Anyway- you had said open challenge-which I had assumed would be just us two-so since you've spent the majority of your music making in hip hop on the beat side of things...I've done the same on the mc side. So that would be what an mc battle would have to do with anything, seems like that would be fair enough, to get down with beats and rhymes-espescially since I'm apparently a "hobbyist" that called it quits....I wouldn't even feel right if I just did one or the other,though-generally speaking. I'd feel like I was being lazy...but that's off topic. Open challenge, forum battle, whatever, fuck we can have a pop-locking battle, I don't care...............I do the battles on here STRICTLY for fun, and to continue learning and evolving. My main points with this whole thing to begin with were simpleFirst- you never know what an artists motivation might be for choosing to do whatever it is they do-it probably goes much, much deeper than what you're just seeing on the surface. And,you should never say anything behind a persons back that you wouldn't say to them in person. THAT's having character, and a basic, simple moral/ethical value.

to be fair adru, he didn't say he wouldn't tell him to his face; he just said he didn't. Those are different sitiasions really.

I think we should get a beat from D. then let adru flip a rhyme but not just adru. anybody can mc on it and then we could have an mc battle. i will not be joining as i am more on the production side of things. but it would be fun to hear as a one off battle.

Honestly I fail to see the difference...but fuck it-as far as an mc battle-I think it would be pretty dope if the few heads on here that both rhyme and make beats did tracks completely on their own and they got voted on. But any battles like this just sprouting from this thread sucks a lot of the fun and spontenaity(yea, i know i spelled that wrong) out of it. I'm down for whatever though.....

I've heard that you and Jonwayne are to have a 45 release with stonesthrow. I can see where this blog may prevent that from happening. Don't get me wrong, I 'd be oissed if Madlib or any other DJ was talking over his songs while playing. Does he think he's D.J. Clue, haha!? I'd hate to see things go sour for you. Keep doing your thing, ace!

the footage that was posted seemed like hella fresh beats. personally i've seen the god 5 or so times--mostly rapping sets. maybe 1 or 2 dj sets. first time at SOB's was amazing. he was kinda drunk and getting into it, talking w/ the crowd and whatnot, rapping loudly w/o mumbling. this was right after jaylib dropped. also madvillain release party w/ dilla and doom, you could just tell he was real nervous. last time was around chrome children era at BB king's. the show was kinda boring and i actually left the venue while madlib was onstage. i'd almost give someone like madlib a pass for that because of his status and also because him live is just usually not that dope. but i have gotten that feeling before from a show. jeru was really insulting the crowd going on and on w/ "man this a real sausage fest, huh?"

you gotta expect madlib to talk throughout the beats just to mess with people like, yeah go find the record if you want to hear it or buy my shit when it drops.
that's lame if he was really insulting people though... anyway sorry for the story...

I almost forgot..Yo ZomB--- I'm really sorry that you took the time to search for that old link, posted it as your one contribution to this thread-and didn't end up getting the results you had hoped for by "calling me out". If I was the type to call people on their bullshit, I would probably say what a snivelling little douchebag move that was.
