I've got a numark pt-01 and it's great. maybe not the best sound, but I can hardly complain for the price(got it for 70 bucks i think). Also, as has been stated here before, if you move the switch between 33 and 45 rpm, it slows down to about 12. pretty cool.

cosign on the numark. I do suggest getting it from a place like guitar center and getting the extended warranty on it. Its a belt drive turn table and has moving parts...anythings like this can wear out and warranties to protect your purchase are a good idea.

Reluctant cosign on Numark. Much as I normally can't stand the company my PT-01 has held up really well and I've been nomadic for the last 12+ months.

My holy grail is a Sony PS-F5 or F9. They're rare and stupid expensive whenever they do pop up, but they look and sound tits:

KOMSAT That looks like a really cool turntable. How is the sound quality on that? I'm a novice dj, but I'm looking to bring the party wherever I might go.

you CAN put a better needle on the PT-01 (at least the USB one i have can change cartridges), but from what dude-behind-the-counter said, there are only a couple of cartridges that fit.

i'll give a plus one to the PT-01 as well. that setting between 33 & 45 is awesome. and it's pitch is + / - 10.

The PT-01 is good but the slide lock for the lid broke on mine really quick. Sounds good, has 78rpm and every i/o you could ever need. One other not so great thing is that you can't disable the pre-amp and and it's quite loud even when you have the volume all the way down. I would actually try the Vestax after my experience with the PT-01 is I was going to cop another portable turntable. PT-01 is still a great unit though. Anybody tried both?
