Portable Turntables
HOwdy ya'll. Been traveling alot more lately and I am considering copping a portable turntable any suggestions?
Re: Portable Turntables
I've got a numark pt-01 and it's great. maybe not the best sound, but I can hardly complain for the price(got it for 70 bucks i think). Also, as has been stated here before, if you move the switch between 33 and 45 rpm, it slows down to about 12. pretty cool.

Thanks Masta Kella. (killed that ish btw). The pt-01 was not on my radar until now. Your co-sign and the price tag= copped. I need no more suggestions, keep it moving if u guys want peace.
Re: Portable Turntables
cosign on the numark. I do suggest getting it from a place like guitar center and getting the extended warranty on it. Its a belt drive turn table and has moving parts...anythings like this can wear out and warranties to protect your purchase are a good idea.

Re: Portable Turntables
i got a vestax handytraxx, again not the best sound but people are pretty dirty around here.
Re: Portable Turntables
Reluctant cosign on Numark. Much as I normally can't stand the company my PT-01 has held up really well and I've been nomadic for the last 12+ months.
My holy grail is a Sony PS-F5 or F9. They're rare and stupid expensive whenever they do pop up, but they look and sound tits:

Beats a soundburger in my book.

similiar to that sony one. Thanks for the co-signs on the numark u guys. ONe quick question about the numark can u put a better cartridge on it if u so choose?
Re: Portable Turntables
KOMSAT That looks like a really cool turntable. How is the sound quality on that? I'm a novice dj, but I'm looking to bring the party wherever I might go.

Re: Portable Turntables
you CAN put a better needle on the PT-01 (at least the USB one i have can change cartridges), but from what dude-behind-the-counter said, there are only a couple of cartridges that fit.
i'll give a plus one to the PT-01 as well. that setting between 33 & 45 is awesome. and it's pitch is + / - 10.

Re: Portable Turntables
Thanks for the info and the cosign fauna. much appreciated.
Re: Portable Turntables
The PT-01 is good but the slide lock for the lid broke on mine really quick. Sounds good, has 78rpm and every i/o you could ever need. One other not so great thing is that you can't disable the pre-amp and and it's quite loud even when you have the volume all the way down. I would actually try the Vestax after my experience with the PT-01 is I was going to cop another portable turntable. PT-01 is still a great unit though. Anybody tried both?
