Everybody in the rap industry talks shit if they have a so called "thug" image to uphold, I wonder if they really have beef over some real shit or if Royce da 5'9" is just mad 'cause Mistah F.A.B sells more records than he ever did despite the lack of lyrical content. It's not F.A.B's fault for capitalizing on the fact that the majority of people are ignorant and want to listen to crunk/hypy music. I haven't heard Royce da 5'9" nationally since Lyricist Lounge and Rawkus records sold the fuck out after they built a great hip hop label, but at least Rawkus has signed Blue Scholars which was the only group from Seattle that I really liked while I lived there.

I travel all over the U.S and internationally 'cause I love new cultures but I love Bay every time I come home, just in the narrow perspective of hip hop we have everything from Hieroglyphics to Mac Dre and it's all well made in my opinion. Music is a huge part of the Bay's culture and history over the generations and genres. Summer of Love to the Hyphy Movement music is our lifestyle.

That's what I always liked about the Bay Area,in the hiphop scene,there's
East Coast type hiphop like the Hiero,the Hobo Junction which El-P bit off to get where he is,Mac Dre like you said,some really dope hyphy and way more...
The diversity and sincerity can't be found in other scenes,anyways not in NYC...

NYC hip hop is garbage ever since we lost the boom bap era- whether it be commercial or underground. Everything sounds very generic and watered down.
I lost all faith when I was in fat beats in manhatten. I saw the turntable set up- I gave it a close look. the music was coming from a concealed ipod.

That's pretty sad to hear that.I remember going to NYC for the 1st time in 92 and it was so dope man,even when I went back 2 years later,I made a few Hot 97 and WBLS tapes,where I could hear EPMD,Smiff and Wessun,Gravediggas and etc...
I even caught DJ Premier on his mixshow and he was sick especially when he was beat juggling 2 copies of Unbelievable!!
To tell you the truth,I never liked Fat Beats as I always saw them as opportunistic,politics riddled dickriders...lol

Yeah, it's a damn shame what happened after the golden era in New York, I love that style which is why I like independent hip hop on the west coast, 'cause it's sounds like boom bap never died it just changed venues. Soon the same will happen to the south, their sound may be the radio standard now but back in the day that sound was really brought to the south by key practitioners of what is known as Miami Bass, which started in the 80's and sounds fresh but like anything that gets to popular it became marginalized. Dj Frantic, if you know more about Miami Bass drop some knowledge.

I do remember that Fat Beats refused to put any Bay Area 12 on their shelves for so long.
As far as dope,I'll give the props to the UK right now,I'm starting to love Grime!!
But it's good that cats on Sp just don't care about the industry standard and still respect the origins of hiphop and just trust their ears instead of biting whatever is hot at the moment

The only Fat Beats I've been to is the one in Amsterdam and I wasn't impressed. Amoeba here in the Bay Area kills it for finding gems on the low low. These boxes let people make what ever style of music they want, I'd even venture to say I could make a jazz cut with just samples on this thing. Jazz is very freeform and spontaneous which goes perfect with playing the sp live and recording the results.
