most of us already own the equipment so i doubt they get ANYthing out of it. the faceplates are for old 404's not the new ones so we wont have to spend new money. and they can't use our tracks for any commercial gain because the samples aren't legally owned by anyone affiliated with this site or roland. i can't see how roland is capitalizing on us.

You're totally wrong. This site is independent. It's owned by Dutch people that have no connection to Roland whatsoever, except this one battle and except the fact that some of Roland's 'demo boys' as you call it frequent this forum. Mike Acosta basically visits only to make interesting announcements and check out what's up with the SP crowd, nothing more. Don't forget he's not even working for Roland anymore, but he's still a Roland gear user.

I would really advise you to slow down a bit with the negativity Adru. I'm not sure if you're just poking fun of the excitement around this battle, but really..
I like your beats and I respect you, but if you're going to be crossing the line again, don't be surprised there's going to be a consequence.

The spirit of this battle is purely fun. Has always been fun and will always be fun.

The face plates are bonus and is basically just Roland showing they care! Despite the freaking bad economic times we live in.
