there's a fuckin typo on the faceplate too, "BIT CRaSH"!
also, Googling "sp404sx" brings this very thread up as the first hit...there's some good publicity for ya Roland, a bunch of dedicated SP users disappointed at your missed opportunity
ok - real talk - if my SP-404 burnt out tomorrow, I would replace it with this. simply due to the impossibility of finding 1gig CF cards. Pattern Copy was never an issue for me, the FlyLo trick wasn't exactly brain surgery, this new 'official' method will probably only shave one or two elements off it.
but, 32 gigs of space on a card, and we only have the same number of banks and pads? shit guys, maybe squeezing an extra 4 pads would require extra design etc, but surely adding extra banks would be simple?
The computer editor is nothing new - it really should have been a free add-on for existing SP-404 users, like Mike Acosta said it would be when he researched the shit on these very forums. the 'shuffle' feature in sequencer, again something upgradable via firmware and should be available to existing users, not as a feature for a new model.
i'm skeptical about the 'sound improvement'. i'm sure some FX will sound slightly
different, but that doesn't mean better.
so yeah, it's an upgrade mainly with features we should've had in a firmware years ago. upgraded mainly so that Roland could continue to make cash off a product they designed years ago and have no doubt already recouped R&D costs on, but can no longer sell because of CF card restrictions...enter the SD card. does this warrant a fucking viral marketing campaign? a countdown of days until release? i don't think so
