little question: a 1giga(and more) card will not work on sp-606?

Nope, it won't work. The 606 needs to format cards so they become compatible, so there's no way around the 512 limit. Otherwise, I would just cop a 2 gb card, format it, add a partition of 512mb and voila ready. Unfortunately, this trick won't work on the SPs.

wich one is better for the sp-606?

Well, there are many in that list that won't fit in the 606. You will need a Compact Flash card, not a MMC, RS or Memory Stick Pro. It's important that you buy a 'compact flash card' or CF card as others simply will not fit and will not work!

SanDisk 512mb Compact Flash is good, but make sure it's really a compact flash card. ( look at the top pictures here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CompactFlash )

By the way, I could be wrong, but I thought the 606 can have metronome on during resampling, just set it to 'always' in the system menu.

you're absolutely right - just turn metronome on "always" and you can sample with metronome - just remember when you're sampling with metronome - after any sound appears metronome gets off time, after it you can sample. When you're done, delete unnecessary part in the begginning (in simple words - make any sound after you press the sampling button so metronome properly sticks to rhythm and then cut out unnecessary part in the beggining of your recording)

fot the ROLL question: any suggestions? how to over this "problem"?
thanx

you can record rolls even in 64 steps in any pattern - just switch off @quantize@ during recording - and there you go with your aphex twinish glitches!

this would be a great news for me!!!
...but i read somewhere in the sp-606 manual that ROLL could not be recorded...page 45 it said:"NOTE: you cannot resampling using the roll function"... :|
where's the truth?

roll can be recorded when your originally sampling in, but can't be recorded when resampling (2nd or 3rd mod to sound) etc...

...maybe is my english, but...this means that i can record ROLL when i'm about sampling? in simple words: when i sample i make ROLL in order to record this with the sample itself? how could this thing works? i thought that ROLL worked only with samples yet sampled in the sp-606 pads...

(2nd or 3rd mod to sound)

...sorry, i don't understand that one...

sorry i get kind of crazy with my wording on stuff. what i meant was when u first sample a sound into the machine, roll should work fine if u wanna use it. what i meant by 2nd or 3rd mod was if u resample the same sound to a new pad, then roll is no longer an option u can use (or at least thats what the manual says) hope that clears it up a little

so, at last, the final answer to my question is that we can't record (resample) with the ROLL function, we can't use it while we record pads...
...so this one...
you can record rolls even in 64 steps in any pattern - just switch off @quantize@ during recording - and there you go with your aphex twinish glitches!

...was only a dream?... :(
...or maybe we can use it during recording patterns?

Not to disagree with you or anything as it's been a while since i've actually did stuff on my 606, but I think you can actually use roll during both sampling and resampling. Just make sure you manually start and stop the (re)sampling.

I may be confusing things with the MV way of sampling and resampling here though.

Now I think about it, if all fails couldn't ya even use the D-beam to achieve the roll effect when setting it to trigger?

...in the sp-606 manual it says clearly that you can't use the ROLL function while you're resampling. i didn't found any specification on this subject, if , for example, there's a difference between automatic or manual resampling to use ROLL with. i wish it could work like this, but...

Now I think about it, if all fails couldn't ya even use the D-beam to achieve the roll effect when setting it to trigger?

...unfotunately also this function doesn't works while resampling (sp-606 manual, the same page of the ROLL function thing); and sp-606 can't receive midi messages while resampling, so no ROLL/FLAM from my BOSS 660 drum machine

but if i read better this one...

you can record rolls even in 64 steps in any pattern - just switch off @quantize@ during recording - and there you go with your aphex twinish glitches!

...maybe this means that we can use ROLL during patterns recording? in the sp-606 manual it don't says nothing about it but it tells about Quantizing, so, maybe the ROLL could work while we record patterns...

...just a stupid question:
anyone of this thread could please try with his own sp-606 this ROLL function if it works in Resampling (manual and automatic) and in Patterns recording?
thanx

Mmm, I could swear I've used a roll once during resampling though.

I know for a fact the roll does work during pattern recording, as that's what it was meant for.

Weird, I'm pretty sure I once did a fade out kind of thing using the D-beam filter FX...
