Not to disagree with you or anything as it's been a while since i've actually did stuff on my 606, but I think you can actually use roll during both sampling and resampling. Just make sure you manually start and stop the (re)sampling.
I may be confusing things with the MV way of sampling and resampling here though.
...in the sp-606 manual it says clearly that you can't use the ROLL function while you're resampling. i didn't found any specification on this subject, if , for example, there's a difference between automatic or manual resampling to use ROLL with. i wish it could work like this, but...
Now I think about it, if all fails couldn't ya even use the D-beam to achieve the roll effect when setting it to trigger?
...unfotunately also this function doesn't works while resampling (sp-606 manual, the same page of the ROLL function thing); and sp-606 can't receive midi messages while resampling, so no ROLL/FLAM from my BOSS 660 drum machine
but if i read better this one...
you can record rolls even in 64 steps in any pattern - just switch off @quantize@ during recording - and there you go with your aphex twinish glitches!
...maybe this means that we can use ROLL during patterns recording? in the sp-606 manual it don't says nothing about it but it tells about Quantizing, so, maybe the ROLL could work while we record patterns...
...just a stupid question:
anyone of this thread could please try with his own sp-606 this ROLL function if it works in Resampling (manual and automatic) and in Patterns recording?
thanx
