Hey everyone!:)

Well. . was playing with one of these today. . I like it alot, especially considering the live project im building is all about miniature/battery powered gear.

Anyhow - I'm just wondering what would happen in the following situation with a 404:
I'm not too sure the best way to explain this since i dont know the 404 terminology .. but bare with me...

Lets say pad 1 & 2 have a kick and snare, the rest are all empty.

I hit play, (possible countin begins? or is there a wait for note option?)
I resample onto pad 3, a kick/snare combo that goes for 2 bars.

I want this resampled pad 3 to keep looping.

Then, without stopping, I want to sample an external input (lets say a bassline) into pad 4.

Have I broken any 404 rules yet? can I resample while playing the pad 3 loop?

Assuming I haven't broken any fundamental rules yet, at the end of my 2 bar bassline, I want it to begin looping instantly.

so now I have pad3 and pad4 playing simultaneously, looping.

then lets say I want to use the isolator to cut the low frequencies from just the kick/snare combo (pad 3) . . . is this OK? (are the effects global or can they be applied to a single pad?)

Sorry its a bit difficult to explain, I hope you can answer my question with a big fat YES!

if its a frowny "NO" . . then can you recommend something that COULD do that? perhaps a different SP-x0x, or even an MPC or something?

I really would rather work in the audio loop domain than with MIDI patterns . .. but I don't want to use a laptop/software.

Thanks for any help guys (n gals) !

A BIG FAT YES! you can do that, just put pad on loop after trimming it.

Then, without stopping, I want to sample an external input (lets say a bassline) into pad 4.

A BIG FAT NO!!! You just can't do that. I think you can do that on an MPC tho, but I don't own one of them.

YES if you wanna resample the pad 3, but if its from another pad, then NO!

Assuming I haven't broken any fundamental rules yet, at the end of my 2 bar bassline, I want it to begin looping instantly.

NO, use the pattern sequencer for complex stuff.

so now I have pad3 and pad4 playing simultaneously, looping.

They can be both global or with a single or a few pads!

SORYY to be a pain just checking one thing:

I can only resample to one pad? :?

eg:

I take a oneshot hihat sample off pad 1 and resample it to pad 2 by hitting it multiple times to create a rhythm.

then I can or can't (?) take a kick drum sample on pad 3 and esample a rhythm of kicks to pad4?

**Come up with a way to describe it easier I think**

Basically to begin with I have this:

Pad 1: single hihat
Pad 2: single kick
all other pads empty

Then I hit play and want to get to this without stopping by resampling from pad 1 & 2:

Pad 1: single hihat
Pad 2: single kick
Pad 3: hihat track (eg hihats on offbeats) - this one is looping
Pad 4: Kick track (eg kicks on beats) - this one is looping

you can resample to one pad at a time. but you can resample to as many pads as you want.

why would wanna keep resampling? just use the pattern sequencer to build complex rhythms.

sounds like you're more in to getting a loopstation.. that's more of a live "one man band" ting..

when you try to sample while playing a sequence it will stop. i think the people at roland should try and fix this in a new o.s.
youre probably better off using ableton live. it adapts to your wishes.
