FROM THE SHEER EFFORT IT TAKES TO MAKE THESE BURNERS, IMO OPINION NO WANTS TO BE DQ'D. JUST THINK PEEPS ARE TRYING TO KEEP IT HONEST. THINK WE ARE AT A CROSSROADS WITH MANY OF THE POINTS IN THE PREVIOUS BATTLE.

AS MENTIONED MANY TIMES BEFORE I AM OF THE MINDSET OF THE MORE THE MERRIER, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO HEADS THAT ARE EVER PRESENT. I WOULD RATHER HAVE 12-15 PARTICIPANTS THAN 5 WITH HEAVY RULES.

THINK WE ALL MASTERS OF OUR OWN STYLES AND HAVE A HIGHER STANDARD THAN MOST FOR OUR CREATIONS, SOMETIMES THE MAIN SAMPLES ARENT AS INSPIRING TO YOU SUBJECTIVELY (BIG REASON I BUILD THE LARGER SAMPLE SOURCES) AND INCLUDING EXTRA TOOLS IS THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE SOMETHING THAT INSPIRES YOU OR THAT YOU CAN ACTIVELY LISTEN TO.

I AM OBVIOSLY HELLA BIASED BUT I WOULD BE HELLA SAD TO SEE TITO JESSIE BOUNCE, JUST LIKE I WOULD ANY OF THE OTHER MAINSTAYS. HE'S BEEN A STEADY SOURCE OF INSPIRATION, ALWAYS SHOWS OUT, HOSTED A BUNCH OF MY FAVORITE BATTLES OVER THE LAST YEAR, AND PROBABLY THE MOST CONSISTENT PARTICIPANT OTHER THAN MICC/ASHA.

I'm in two minds. Absolutely, the more the merrier. But also, at the same time, it's an SP forum and the clue's in the name. Plenty of other beat comps all over the internet if you're not into using your SP...
But, ultimately, I'm fine with other similar machines being used and only think it's a problem if the SP isn't the *main* one and/or if excessive outside software jiggery is done, like non-speed-based pitching/timestretching or wotevz...
...but, like someone said, the MkII can do all kinds of crazy shit these days anyway, and just because it has SP in the title, those users have an "advantage", if it's about a flat playing field, so surely it doesn't matter what was used?
However, I do think it's important to respect the wishes of the person setting the comp, as they won that right when they won the last one. Like, is it *really* that hard to make a beat on just your old SP, like you would've back in the day?
I guess, at the end of the day tho, it's just about the beat(s) we like the most. I don't vote or not vote for someone based on *how* their beat was made. Just my fave.

TBH, I probs would've 'llowed the microSampler (NOT Koala tho, LOLOLOLOLOL), as it's a small, limited sampler. But it wasn't my round. And he literally asked to be DQ'd, lol.

I really went back and forth quite a bit in deciding whether to include it, not for the sake of staying true to the rules and having authority over the poll but because I didn’t want to ignore your request to be disqualified. It really was that black and white, and I didn’t mean anything by it. your presence here is always valuable and it’s partly through my admiration of your work that I even gave the 404 a second chance when I was looking to sell it back in 2007/2008. I hope you’ll understand that I wouldn’t have considered leaving it out if it weren’t for that. I’m happy to include it

I just tried to contribute.
I wasn't hyped on the sampling material but we're trying to keep the lights on in the forum's.

P.s. I've been around the sp block for a long time. I find the limitations boring and uninspiring now, hence me not playing in future stringent ruled 'battles'

I'm getting too old to use the same 15+ years of trickery etc.

Forced myself to get inspired by using a microsampler for bass and tight looping tone/synth samples

SP-FORUMS IS ALL BUT DEAD, WE THE TITANIC PLAYING AS IT CAPSIZES. EVERYONE THAT LEFT IS HERE MOST LIKELY FOR NOSTALGIC PURPOSES, AND SHOULD BE CHERISHED. ALSO IN SP FORUMS TRADITION THIS IS THE LAND OF A BILLION SECRET ALIAS'S . YOU NEVER KNOW YOU TALKING WITH, IT COULD BE A PROLIFIC SENSEI THAT WROTE SEVEREAL SECRET MANUALZ OF GREAT SUBSTANCE THAT INSPIRED MORE SP SALES THEN MADLIB. THEY ALWAYS HAVE LOOK HOW DIFFERENT EACH MODEL IS IE 202 (PITCHING, TEXTURE, TWO EFFECTS AT ONE TIME, BEAUTIFUL FILTER) 303 (MY FAVORITE SOUNDING EFFECTS, BEAUTIFUL LONG MODE, EXTERNAL RESMAPLE TRICK) 404 OG,SX (LOADS OF SAMPLE TIME, VARIABLE SAMPLE RATES, SIGNATURE SOUND AND EFFECTS, BEST HAPPY MEDIUM) 505 (CLIP BOARD, 4 TRACK SEQUENCER WITH MUTES, WEIRD PITCH AND AUTOCHOP, 303 SOUNDING EFFECTS) 555 (LOOPER, NEW PALLETE OF EFFECTS, MORE PADS, EFFECT PRESETS) MKII (MPC STYLE ADDONS, REAL PITCHING/TIME TRETCHING, TERRIBLE SOUND AND EFFECTS, SEQUENCER TRICKS, PAD MUTES) iF I WAS FORCED TO GET RID OF ONE IT WOULD BE THE MKII!!!

No hard feelings here either, and to be honest I wasn’t feeling the samples. My selection isn’t great, and Whenever I’ve hosted, the interest level drops it seems, a combo of the source material and more restrictive rules. There was a time when I lost interest in the arena for the opposite reasons: too much source material and outside anything allowed. So I just default to the old rules as a personal preference without realizing that we may lose participation for that very reason. If I get another in the future I will be more lenient because I want everybody to get in on the fun, that’s what this place is for!
