Record Player Question?

So I'm thinking it's time to buy my first record player and records for samples to go along with it I have been saving up and then spending on Japanese food, but NOW is the time.

I do have a question though.

Could I run this TT directly into my SP because it has a "built-in switchable phono preamp" or should I buy a phono-preamp individual to the player itself?

Yes, you can record directly into the sp with that table. Being belt driven, though, means you can't really manipulate the vinyl while it's playing. You'd need a belt driven one for that. This is important if you want to be able to pitch sounds up or down or scratch.

Also, if you're going to want to record other sources into the RCA ins, that means unplugging the turntable, and depending on your sp, the RCAs are really sensitive to frequent handling. I would suggest a mixer or reciever/integrated amp. Those often have phono preamps that could sound better than the audio technica, depending on the brand and model.

I think you mean direct drive as far as being able to scratch on. Outside of that, belt drive TTs are ok. Pitching is dependent on rather or not the TT has a pitch adjustment control/slider/knob (I don't see one on that Audio Technica)

I'd suggest looking at the Numark PT-01 if you haven't already made a decision.

that turntable will do for sure.
ive been using a cheap ass vestax handytrax (belt-drive) for at least 4-5 years. i manipulated wax a lot even though its not a direct drive (mainly cause i got it for hella cheap), and its still running good.
even tho its cheap as shit and the stylus is plastic, i can still get a pretty good sound quality when i record it in the sp with rca outputs.

so no doubt the one you linkd above will definately do the trick.

Should be in by this weekend and then I'm taking my first official trip to the record store. At least my first official record shopping trip.

I'm ready to hear how the player sounds connected directly to the Sp. I'll come back with feedback if anyone is wondering about the connection without an individual preamp.

I bought a comparable turntable just for sampling directly in the sp. It does the job very well.
