Is your SP using stereo samples then you track it out to mono? What are you recording into? Computer?

That question is really vague. Can you elaborate with examples?

No, I always track out to stereo. I had been using audacity and a cheap behringer interface to track out. For example the mix wouldn't sound as fat once it was tracked out. I've also had problems before where I have to track out with very low volume on the sp or it would overdrive like crazy on audacity. recently I started using reaper to track out and using my sp 555 as the interface. idk how to explain but it just sounds like it loses some quality after I track out (wav file). I usually fix all that with izotope but I was just wondering if you guys could help me out with some tips.

You mean, when you play your stuff on the SP it sounds nice, but when you record into your computer, it doesn't sound as nice?

If you are recording into Audacity, try this:

Before recording, click on Edit > Preferences

on "Recording" check the box for Software Playthrough.

This allows you to monitor through the computer your recording signal.
Now click the pause button, then record. Play some stuff through the SP.
How does it sound?

Howdy, I noticed that when I record thru usb with 555 as soundcard it comes out quiete. So i started using a interface with a stereo in to run headphone jack of 555 into stereo in of interface. This gives me an extra gain which is nice. Anywho, try holding cancel then hold start/end/level button then turn ctrl knob 3. This gives u db gain to 12. I usually keep mine at six everytime I startup.

I had a cheap behringer interface too, but that was awful. The record-quality on my laptop onboard soundcard was better. Maybe you buy a better interface.

I stopped recording with my laptop and only use my desktop pc with a esi juli soundcard.

I've had this same issue when tracking beats out from my 303, 404 and 2000xl. Not sure why. Ill track it all out then ill play back from the sampler for a second and from the computer for a second...the recording sounds slightly diiferent. Its difficultto explain but maybe...less warmth? I record into stereo/mono depending what the sample is through an audiobox usb into my Vaio in Cubase

Analyze your entire signal chain from start to finish. That's kind of a technical question that one would need alot of details about your chain to answer. Most will tell you to replace the behringer...but that might not be it at all.

It may be the track settings in Cubase used to record. You also might be choking the volume somewhere between the SP and the final track.

Try to normalize the SP track after it's recorded.
