Thinking of getting a new sampler.

I've currently got a 606 and while it's a decent machine for music production it lacks a few features that I find important for live performance. I'm doing some research into which sampler I should get instead of the 606.

Does the 555 have the ability to fade out individual pads separately? For ...

606man - Nah I'm not a shuffler but I do do VJ'ing (live visuals) around some Melbourne venues. I also entered that pioneer DJ/VJ competition a few months ago so you might have seen the name there.

Did you partition the card or did you just put folders in it?

I probably wasn't clear enough in my first question.

If I've got two pads playing, how do I fade only one of those out so that the other one keeps playing.

And does anyone know the link to that 404 thread?

Fading out individual pads/resampling delay

I've got two unrelated questions.

1. Is there a way of fading out an individual pad while leaving the rest at their original volume? I know how to turn down the volume of a pad, but I'm more interested in getting a smooth fade out while playing live.

2. When I resample using an effect that ...

Yeah that's what I meant, one sample accross all the keys. Ah well, thanks for the help. I'll have to find another use for the keyboard.

What can a MIDI keyboard be used for?

I recently borrowed a MIDI keyboard to use with my SP606. I read through the manual but my understanding of MIDI is basic. I got the keyboard working in conjunction with my 606, ie. pressing keys will trigger samples from pads on the 606. Essentially the keys on the keyboard act as the pads on the ...

Thanks for the help. I managed to retrieve about 75% of my samples, which I'm extremely happy about. I thought I'd try the card one last time before messing around with it and to my surprise it loaded. Most of the samples were still there but a quarter or so were damaged. I exported the remaining ...

606 malfunction

I was recently copying some samples from my 606 to my computer via USB. About halfway through my computer (macbook, running osx 10.4) seized and I had to restart finder. This meant that the connection between my 606 and computer was broken and the files didn't copy successfully, no big deal I ...
