Thinking of getting a new sampler.

I've currently got a 606 and while it's a decent machine for music production it lacks a few features that I find important for live performance. I'm doing some research into which sampler I should get instead of the 606.

Does the 555 have the ability to fade out individual pads separately? For example, let's say I'm playing pad 5 and 9 at the same time, can I use a knob to fade out pad 5, leaving pad 9 playing.

Also, does it connect via USB so I can transfer samples from my computer to the sampler?

yes you can fade samples but it takes some getting used to. since its a single track sequencer with no actual mixer you have to find sneaky ways of gettign things done .

yes there is usb, you can use the 555 as a sound card .
there is also a pretty cool pattern bank program where you make programs your pc , then transfer them to the sampler.

Is it the same process as with the 404?

Would you guys say the 555 a good unit for live performances?? If not which other sampler would you recommenced?

The 555's a pretty good sampler. I believe it was designed with live performances in mind. It's similar to the 404, if you've ever used one. But yeah, I'd recommend it.

The only way I know of doing a fade with a knob requires selecting a pad first, thus playing the sample or turning off a sample from looping, this may or may not be a problem. I think it would be a problem for me.

The MC-808 can do fades real easy, but it may not be the right tool for you for other reasons.
