I usually get an open bassline off a record, isolate the sample, lo fi filter it a couple times, and (depending on the situation) use some vinyl sim comp. I dont like compressing my bass a lot, though

The 404 could definitely do that...In fact, I'd say it'd easily make sounds like that with its effects. You should look into getting something else to record into, though, whether it be hardware or software
