the things i gained from crate diggin.
knowledge of all kinds of music. good music bad music.
be able to find good records easier. even dollar records. basicly just knowledge, i dont regret spending so much time on it.

however im a hard core record junkie, not so much a collector, because if
a record doesnt have any samples ill get pissed off and smash it . i dont do it much, just to make a point to the other wack records! im comin ! and i get a new stash, 25 crates or so every half decade, they are cosmicly linked to me.

i was on acid and having rank trips of going back in time and alterign the recordings, but it was trying to figure out how time and tapes works i was incredibly amazed how i was able to record events of time . just mad trippen , anyway im not shure if the dude that drew those is a crate digger or not, but i would only recomend the path of digging, if you were meant for it . like the chosen one. the records choose you., you dont choose the records.

word man. I'm a believer that you should listen to all genres of music when digging, from gospel to classic rock, its all important for the final sound you get out of your music. You learn something from every piece of wax you throw on your turntable, so keep rocking it :wink:

i dont have time to look at this-but personally my life would suck without digging and looking for samples-nothing makes me happier or helps me escape as much as coming home with a new stack...and by the way,every beat any of you has ever heard of mine,besides the battles,has been from a dollar record.i'm stepping it up to some $2-3 dollar joints for the next album though,lol---but for real,thats where you find all the dopeness-a record is expensive because its highly sought after or well known-as a beat maker,you want neither.and i've also found a huge ammount of classic samples in the dollar bins.regardless,to me theres just something magical about the whole process-and i almost like going through new records more than actually getting down to making beats with them.almost.

I think it makes far more sense to go after the much more unknown samples in the often far cheaper records indeed!!

I had a discussion with someone on YouTube about this and he was basically the type of person that tried to get all records his favorite producer also has... Not something I would ever do. There's plenty of excellent stuff inside just about any record, lately I've even found usable stuff in 80s type heavy metal CDs. Sure, it's not vinyl, but often, drums are drums regardless of music genre.

its funny how what records u dig determines how the song will be....i mean the feeel opf them. if i flip some soul shit...like stuff thats expected of beat diggas to sample...u get the general 'hiphop' sound easily. good and bad at the same time. i rather flipping shit i baught for one dollar with my lunch money from The Salvation Army....'The Hammond Special - Hammond Organ Classics' ...more samples there then u could tell from the cheesey 60s cover :twisted:

Whats people rule (if u have a rule) on drums? Striktly record drums? or u dont mind using samplepacks and vintage drum machines?

endless crates will spell adru making beats till hes 90...

to answer homeades question-there should be NO rules on drums,and anyone that tells you different is a herb...i'm talking layering random hits or breaks on records with shit on break comp records,layering breaks with empty hits on hip hop instrumentals,to smacking the shit out of your sp mic for a drum sample.its whatever man-i guarantee you if i was to make a single snare out of 3 famous producers kits,not one of em would have any idea i used their shit.so who cares?all i know is i got some dope drums. all these rules cats have on their drums is ridiculous,and probably why a lot of their drums sound like shit.you know why drums in the industry keep getting iller and iller?motherfuckers are layering each others shit...guaranteed...and dont feel any guilt about snatching a break from a hip hop producers instrumental-its a BREAK-He didnt create that shit.
