Re: Styleflip blank psd template for 404sx?

Go onto the sp 404 styleflip and just press the preview button, then just right click copy and save and there you go a template. if you worry about your pattern covering up the text, dont be, styleflip can just put another layer of the text on top, unless you dont want that then you can just switch ...

Re: Basic questions about Sp404sx

Im guessing it would, though it mostly applies if you have much longer samples or just one shots and drum sounds on there. Im not sure what the card limit for the og 404 is thou, but I know the sx can hold 32 gigs atleast.

Re: Basic questions about Sp404sx

The drums that come with it are shit yo, just get another sd card and load your own drums, basically the sd cards are the entire memory bank, nothing is left behind on the 404, unless you have the 404 og, which has banks A and B left on the 404. Besides that the thing is a breeze to move around and ...

Stopping all sounds like the 404

Quick tip, if you want to stop all the samples playing, lets say you have a minute long sample and you want to stop that shit. Just hit the play button to play the pattern, and then stop it immediately afterwards. It just stops everything in its tracks yo.

Re: bassline

The thing I like to do is to isolate a heavy bass section I find with the isolator.
If I find that the bass sound is lacking, I do hit it with some low pitch voice trans to get it a bit of grit that sounds way nicer than the distortion that basically chews up the bass.

Re: SP-404SX Powering Off Randomly

Hey does this only happen if you have the cord in or not? If it only happens with the cord, it might be an issue with either the power supply or the power jack.

Re: thinking of sorting my records, any tips?

Im already sorting stuff out in categories, have a crate for the really weird stuff I find like a sound effects record or one that has morse code on ...

thinking of sorting my records, any tips?

been digging for awhile and I have so much that I cant find the record I want in a moments notice. I want to sort them but I'm not sure how to best do it.
Should I do it by genre or by the contents? Or are there better ways to sort records? Please let me know.

Re: Sp and...

I do the 808 and 404 together, they fit so well together with the 808 pitch changing and much better sample editing than the 404, and I just record it to the 404 and add the drums and I have my beat right there.

New way to do mute groups without the delete

Alright, this new way to do mute groups does away with the delete button, so you don't have to worry about your samples getting offed, but you do have to sacrifice one pad for a short while for the trick.
First you have your sample all chopped up, and then on one pad, record a few seconds of silence ...

Re: Compatible cardreader!found this in another sp808 forum

Yo has anyone tried this card reader yet? https://www.mpcstuff.com/2000-xl-compact-card-reader-flash-drive-kit-mcd/ It's like the card reader that works for the 808 except its half the price, and it only reads compact flash. I had it hooked up but it doesn't boot up with my sp808 after ...

Used the Bass solo in the sample at the 17th second, was going to originally make an entire beat around that but I looped the first part and it was so good that I thought I might as well just base the entire beat around it. I used the drums and added ...

Re: Remember what you sampled first?

First thing I sampled was this really cassette tape in my parents collection, I just played it and vinyl sim'd and pitched it way down and made it sound all warbly. Mind you, this was when I got into BOC and wanted to sound like them.
