Compatible cardreader!found this in another sp808 forum

I was under the impression they sold out? There may be a zip disk emulator coming from the HxC guys soon.

Hi,

If you're looking for a flash card reader for your sp808, I use the reader for MPC2000XL blue version.
MPCSTUFF have some left and it costs 275$

Be aware that MPC kit-2 DOES NOT WORK..

I don't know if other fladh reader or hard drive work...

Yo has anyone tried this card reader yet? https://www.mpcstuff.com/2000-xl-compact-card-reader-flash-drive-kit-mcd/ It's like the card reader that works for the 808 except its half the price, and it only reads compact flash. I had it hooked up but it doesn't boot up with my sp808 after formatting it, I still have hopes thou.

I'm guessing the flash card is too big. Would any of you know if updating the system would work with a 4 gig flash card? Or would that be too big. Or is there some type of emulator situation where you can make the sp808 think that the card is a 100 zip drive?

Yeah they have us by the balls $285 bucks freaking waaay to high , I would love it if someone would open up one of these card readers that does work so we can get a good look at what makes it different. I know there is a IC on the reader, this is where the commands for a zip drive kinda get imitated.

I got the cf/sd/sm drive in mine and the sd works with a micro sd>sd card I have. Maybe this hotswappable sd drive will work. At a cheaper price and cards would be cheaper too.

So does the sampling/sequencing/every function work with these drives? Is it slower or faster than the original? I need to replace my disk drive and might just go this route instead.

What does "not hot-swappable" mean exactly? I'm not really interested in saving anything to the cards long-term. It's more that I want a more reliable drive that's not going to freeze up when I try to sample or sequence. The zip drive in mine freezes and I have to restart the machine.
