Yes you are missing quite a lot, the drive needs to emulate a ZIP/CDROM and be bootable.
This is never going to happen.

To be fair it is a no isn't it, September 2017, so another entire year, basically it is never going to happen

Keep us updated, a lot of CF to IDE have been tried, most don't work, because it has to be a removable/bootable, basically it has to convince the SP808 that it is a CDrom/Zip.
Our best bet is to keep contacting ARtmix, hopefully they will put a bit more effort in and get the one they already have ...

I would email them and show support, i emailed again a few weeks back and they said that this is no longer happening
