Hope for a zip -replacement in the next year !!!

I have contact a young Company in China and asked
if they are be able to built a cf ide card reader to replace the Zip-drive in the Sp-808 and they have answered to me

that they are still working on an ide sd Adapter /card reader-for Roland Sp-808 and jp9000 sampler to replace the zip-drives of these Mashines,

they think they are finished this project during the next 6 month.

i will confirm and update this news ,if i know exactly when it will happens.

i am full of hope that these people are able to do that sucsessfully ,cause they have also built a few scsi adapters and floppy drive /zip drive adapters for some Akai,Ensoniq and Roland Samplers.

If they do this I'll be buying a second hand SP808, used to love it but hated using Zip disks !

The last news i hear was that they are have finally built a model but they have to make some improvments on it .

Done with importing zip drives marketed as 'new-unused' where the postage costs as much as the drive itself only to install it abd have it run as slow and glitchy as all the worn out 2nd-hand drives I've collected over the years.. not to mention sourcing zip discs from smelly cats in weirdo basements that just clapp out after a month. If this works....oh please, please..

I got a stack of Zip disks and dead Zip drives.

Where are we with this. I'm an original owner of the SP-808 and really, really need for this to happen. Zip drives are dying. These things will be useless once there are no more drives and disks available. Please keep us posted.

The last stand is -
they have build one but had problems with sampling,so they have such to work on it -it seems to be special difficult to replace zip drives in Roland Gear.

Today i have also asked by Hxc2001 if why they making Emulators of every fucking Floppy Drive ,from c-64 disks ,qdisks and what ever but they have no Zip drive emulator.i asked them why -and they answered me that it takes a long Time to built a zip drive Replacement and they think its not worth to do it.
so i have asked back if they would built one in task .
i waiting for an answer -

Better off with an MO drive. Not sure if the SP-808 requires IDE or SCSI. But sometimes you'll find IDE MO drives on ebay.

I have contact Artmix.com 2 weeks ago:they have build a replacement .there only has to be some hotswap tests ,they finally have to do.
But how much time that takes,they could not say.

i will have on eye on it
