Re: Sp and...

I just got a good deal on DSI Mopho.. dope so far. This and Novation XIO25.

I started synthesizing my own drums too, being able to mold the sounds further with SP really helps.. try it guise!

Re: SP-555 pad bpm sync

Yo, no offence but even the manual warns about this. They will drift.
You can see why if you think about the audio format. They use CD quality, meaning 44100 Hz sampling, meaning the timewise resolution of a second of audio is 44100 points (called "samples"). BPM´s tend to be around ~1...3 Hz.
So ...

Re: MIDI control for sp404sx

Just a heads up, you can´t record into the sequencer using a midi controller.

Sry, I meant "you can´t resample using midi", meaning when you press "resample" the MIDI IN is disabled. I bought a MIDI controller/sequencer thinking I can now essentially resample sequences (sequence from MIDI sequencer ...

Re: c canceller - something i've found!

It doesn´t mean center of the frequency specter, it means center of the stereo field. It should remove stuff that is panned center, like vocals, leads, main drum hits, etc... bass is usually center too.

Re: Advantages of using Pattern sequencer?

You can change the tempo of the beats, can be useful for certain things.
On the other hand sequencing beats (plural!) is somewhat crippled because the master tempo applies to all beats so you have to remember or write down the tempo of each and manually change the tempo when changing beats. What ...

Re: Stanton STR8-60.... :)

I disagree about the s-shaped tonearm. Just look at the hi-fi and "audiophile" turntables, they tend to have straight tonearms. S-shaped arms have more mass and they are longer, which means more vibration in the arm itself etc.. The s-arm is a rarity now and there are reasons for that.

I would also ...

Re: KORG VOLCA FM

But you can take the volca on the bus or train or whatever, whip it out and start messing around making new sounds to use later in beats or whatever... This has the widest sonic spectrum of the volca synths and has 32 memory locations, sounds like "Volca Sound Design" to my ears :D

Re: How do YOU sync your samples?

You can´t "sync" loops on the 404 by having them show the same BPM. They will drift, it even sais so in the manual. Only way to sync samples is to have the sequencer trigger them on time or have an external sequencer do that.

Re: Sidechain trickery

One obvious way is to just ride the volume manually before recording the kick drums. BOOM - "custom" compression. You can even do this after the kicks are recorded, turn them down with everything else then re-record them.

Re: Running metronome while resampling and other 404 sx ?s

Thank you, one last question that I can't find in the manual... I've been fucking with the Dakim delay trick to great effect, the only question I have is an you change the BPM of the delay? As in, can I change the length of the loop once I have a delay loop going?

Yes you can, make sure "ext ...

If it costs remotely the same as the previous volcas it´s really a no-brainer for me. Minilogue looks DOPE also... Korg is really killing it ATM.

Re: Recording a pattern with 'loop' on

It´s not about "hold" and you don´t need to have "gate" on.

Turn off both "loop" and "gate" on the sample (making it a "one-shot"), then just trigger this sample at the start of each bar or whenever.

Re: Crazy Idea to get Entire Drum Library on SP

I have done this, but not recently, it´s kind of messy and becomes annoying, listening to the right drum, marking it.. etc.
But yeah, it does work..
But I found a better solution for this, I have a small handheld recorder, onto which I can put a shitload of one-shot drum samples and then just cycle ...

Re: Resample method and making it flow

Something that may help your accuracy with tapping the pads is to make some "pre-taps", for example tap the beats of the preceding bar on some surface (table, chassis of the SP, or even in the air) and then tap the final tap to trigger your sample/beat.
Kind of like conductors showing the orchestra ...

Re: want to start making beats

I guess since you rap you have an idea what is a bar, a beat, a time signature, etc.. If not so much I think it would be a good idea to familiarise yourself with that. Listen to music and listen to what it consists of specifically, how it´s built..

BTW, do you beatbox?
