Sidechain trickery

Just got a quick question about any techniques people may use,

So fully aware that you can't actually sidechain samples/loops etc. via a compressor on the 404, but I was wondering if anyone had any processes that give that ducking down/ dipping vibe.

I was working on a beat last night and tried out a little something that had similar effects:

once i layed my break over the top of my cuts/ambience i then resampled the whole thing and tapped the filter on with a low cutoff every time my kick hit. so to some extent it had a similar effect.

So yeah if that sounds helpful to anyone then bonus! feel free to share any tricks you guys find

Try resampling your kick pattern on top of your sample with your sample being at a very low level. Apply compressor and that's it The compressor will bring your sample back up except when the kick is played.

Same goes for Vinyl sim.
Kick snare loud, loopsample vol. around 30, put vinyl sim on both, sidechain.

Thanks guys! yeah i've been pretty conscious about the sample levels and kept them reasonably higher as i was worried i would lose some of the weight to them but makes complete sense (404 newbie so its a whole new world from making beats in a DAW)

you can also use effect limit mode on the 404 compressor for more ducking. there's threads about this do a search you'll find good info

One obvious way is to just ride the volume manually before recording the kick drums. BOOM - "custom" compression. You can even do this after the kicks are recorded, turn them down with everything else then re-record them.
