I remember 2 years ago I would look on Kijiji, here in Montreal, and find ads for SPs for sale. I would also find MPC2000xl and Zoom Sampletrak samplers for sale. Now, there's nothing. You see the occasional SP but rarely. I mostly see 404sx that are overpriced. $450, really? That's what I paid for ...

The delay on the 202 rocks. It's limited( no feedback, 50% wet) but it's like lowering the timestretch completely, you use it as it is and it can be cool. I like shitty effects when pushed to the extreme.

If you use the sequencer, you mostly have to loop it yourself by retriggering the sample every time while it's on "gate". Basically, what's going on is: you have a midi "note on" on the 1 of the first measure. After 4 bars, what gets retriggered is a midi "note off" since that's how the loop ...

Speaking of Madlib's bass. Has he ever been known to sample himself playing bass? I just wonder sometimes how he would find such perfect, isolated baselines that fit the samples perfectly and that don't sound like played on pads.

Some cool plugins for me are the ones that emulate classic synths like Dexed(for the DX), mono/fury(for the mono/poly), and of course, the classic Minimogue(for the minimoog). I know there's a way to get it to do exactly that based on the sample tempo but I don't know if that's it. Did you try setting the start/end points using the knobs afterwards? I don't have my SX anymore so I can't check.

dude, for my last 404og, I used the same adapter I got for a volca keys at The Source. One with interchangeable tips. A cheap Nexxtech 15$ adapter!

ah the so-called Dakim technique is just a delay with the feedback to the max, it just becomes like a live looper. It's cool to do while using turntable tricks and turning on/off the EXT pad(and putting it on "gate" too).

What do you mean though by having the ins of your interface to your outs? You need your SP outs to your interface and your interface to your computer, that's it.
