Re: The Five Senses

I would keep sight because I think seeing is believing.

I would keep sound because it lets you sense from all directions and from far away. I also have better sound response than smell recognition.

In a world where everyone only has two senses, I think there would be a ton of people tripping over ...

Re: Question with effects

For other stumbling onto this question, the REMAIN button can be used to turn on effects for a pad.

Re: Gonna vent about Guitar Center

I've had good experience with GC's used section. The website isn't terrible to check once a week for what I'm looking for and you can even setup RSS feeds. Just remember that they're not decribing the item on the site and you need to call to talk to someone and get their word on working pads ...

Re: 22.5 khz is enough dynamics

If you have the option to hold more frequencies, why wouldn't you? Are you in a situation that you need a longer sampling time or smaller files?

I feel that even if you can't tell when those frequencies are playing, they're still a part of the dynamics your music has. If you play a single frequency ...

Re: Pattern and fx questions

You need to resample to get the multi-effect stuff going. You can use a sample, record it somehow, record it back on the 404, then repeat for each effect. Or after you have the track on the 404, you can resample with one effect at a time to layer each effect. You also can edit it live and add extra ...

Re: Bypass Click Track?

You can't play a metronome while recording a sample to a pad, sorry. I got a separate unit to do that and the samples went together a lot smoother.

My method for smooth starts and ends is to set the Auto Trigger Level to 2 or 3 so that it starts recording a pad when enough sound happens. This will ...

Re: A new way to practice: Week One- Deep House

Love the idea! Genres each have their own limitations and boundries and I find those help when stuck in a rut. I don't know much about deep house so are there a couple tracks you'd recommend that follow the "rules" nicely? I also didn't download your track b/c of the 2 hour estimated finish, could ...

Re: asking roland to add features to the 404sx

I voted for the SX with my cash because of the SD card use. I think that Roland wouldn't just add a few small tweaks to the effects or recording chain to the existing device but save it for another update to the 404 line like the SX was to the OG.

What does SX stand for anyways? What's next for ...

Re: Bypass Click Track?

You can adjust the click volume by hitting the "level" function button and using the far right control knob while recording or right before you record a pattern. I don't think you can change the time signature though.

If you want to find an approximte BPM for a song, I recommend using the tap tempo ...

Re: Bank and Memory Workflow

If resampling, will probably never use the internal banks since you can't leave loops running in a non-selected bank (possible on the 404).

I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding you but you totally can leave a pad looping and change which bank your using on the 303 as well as 404 and 404sx. The ...

Re: on your Tascam...how do you separate your tracks to matc

I've only had a 424 original for a few days, I'd say that the CUE function is what your looking for. Being able to hear a track but not record over it, which on the 424 is by using left/right panning and channel selection.

What portastudio do you have exactly?

Re: Weekly track submission and beat critiques

I think this would be a nice addition along with the battles. I've had some flips/songs come out of the battle rules/samples, but never ended up feeling like putting them into a battle. I would like to be able to focus on one production aspect and have feedback on that with less constraints on ...

Double posted by accident, but I had another question anyways. Do you think this would work on the input jack as well? An SP with more in/outs sounds very attractive.

Re: SP-404SX additional headphone jack mod #1= SUCCESS!

Great mod! Happy to see the voltmeter out, that wire job looks super nice. Have you tried both headphones out at the same time? I'm picturing a small jam session with someone on an ext in instrument.
