Bank and Memory Workflow

I remember reading a decent post/convo about bank and memory workflow but after literally 2 hours of searching the forum, I can't find it.
Can someone remember or link me? If not...

What is your workflow for the 303?
Do you use Bank A&B for each idea and save to a slot on C&D?
Do you use C&D just for breaks and drums?
How do you work on multiple tracks?

I use snares and hats and kicks and little percussion stuff on A

I use short samples like bass notes or chord stabs or whatevs on B

then C and D are where I record long samples
like 30 seconds of a record
and then I chop that up and resample to A or B or C or D
depending on what the sample is

Depends on which process you choose. If resampling, will probably never use the internal banks since you can't leave loops running in a non-selected bank (possible on the 404). If using the pattern sequencer, will only use the internal banks when I run out of physical room (all 16 pads) in the card banks. I frequently dump projects from the card memory onto my computer. This allows me to archive projects like I would in a DAW, as well as save changes I've made in either a pattern or pad. My current process goes as follows: assemble drums in one card bank->consolidate into one or two pads depending on variation/bar length. Move those pad(s) to the other bank->resample drums with live synth from external source. Loop best take, add, subtract, supplement

I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding you but you totally can leave a pad looping and change which bank your using on the 303 as well as 404 and 404sx. The 202 might not be able to do this, but I thought I'd add that the 303 can do that.

I use a bank for drum hits arranged in my usual arrangement (kicks on the left, hats on the right, filler and snares on the middles). Then I use another bank for a background loop of effected white noise or a simple chord progression looping.

If I'm resampling though, I put it on pad 1 and slowly fill up the rest of the pads with each new layer and if I run out of room I delete the first pads I used. I like to keep the previous couple "layers" if I decide I don't like what I added recently.

Overall though, whatever gets you working with the device is best, hands on are much better in my experience than planning too much. Try a beat/song one way and if you like it, stick to it. If you don't like it hopefully you learned something from it.
