I don't think it's an issue with the adapter. I ran into this same problem while using the correct one.

I've had this same issue when tracking beats out from my 303, 404 and 2000xl. Not sure why. Ill track it all out then ill play back from the sampler for a second and from the computer for a second...the recording sounds slightly diiferent. Its difficultto explain but maybe...less warmth?
