Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the display only turns a different color at the start of measure when you're recording or playing patterns. When receiving sound from an external source, the SP can't determine when a measure has started or ended so it only turns red when the signal is too high.

I have a Technics SL1200 turntable connected to a Vestax PMC-05 Pro mixer and I send the outs of the mixer into the line-in inputs of the 404sx via RCA cables, for sampling.

My master control volume on my mixer is at about 60% and the input level on the 404sx is at 127, but the peak light doesn't ...

Ok, so when people record vocals with Microphones is that mono? Since there is only one input?

Do you mostly record in stereo from the SP?

If you record only from the Left out for example, won't the track play with sound only coming from the left side? So you basically have to record in stereo in ...

So when you play something from your sampler, the sound is sent out through the stereo outs: Left & Right, correct?

I'm interested in purchasing a hardware multi-track recorder. I've never recorded anything before so I would prefer something with a user-friendly interface. I want to record hip hop. So far I've looked in to the Roland VS 840, Roland VS 880, Roland VS 1680, Yamaha AW4416, and Fostex MR-8.

I was at the Afta-1 show too. It's a pretty cool venue, I was surprised reading the list of all the artists that have played there. Devonwho, Mndsgn, 14kt, JonWayne, Tokimonsta, Afta-1, Knxwledge, Andrew Meza just to name some.. I feel like thats a big deal for San Diego.
