I have contact Artmix.com 2 weeks ago:they have build a replacement .there only has to be some hotswap tests ,they finally have to do.
But how much time that takes,they could not say.

There is a working cardreader on Ebay -i have the same and it works very well in m< SP- with a 512MB CF-card from SanDisk

It has a better sequencer than sp606 -or other sp Samplers!look the manual or on YOUtube it is not difficult to find parts of the video manual there

the 808 has a 4track harddisk recorder to built songs.you can recording live on atrack or you could set the samples in steps,from the pad banks.go to Roland and download the manual-my English is not good enough to explain that in details.

The last stand is -
they have build one but had problems with sampling,so they have such to work on it -it seems to be special difficult to replace zip drives in Roland Gear.

does the sp555 recieve any Midi CC Data from other Midi-Instruments like the Octatrack?I can't found this in the Manuell?
