I know this thread is a bit old now, but I just want to testify that I had the DJX forever, and it really packs a lot into such a small price. The sounds are actually usable in a pro environment, compared to the thin classic Casio sounds, and even a few of the preset patterns are somewhat stylish ...

What I like it taking a nice breakbeat loop, and then setting the delay to the center point and wiggling it slightly to create a sort of Questlove-ish approach to a drum-n-bass pattern.

Also, using the ring modulator live to create a sort of guitar solo effect by continually mashing the start point ...

This amazing level of resampling potential on the SX has left me completely baffled as to why there are so many people left debating the merits of the SX against the regular 404. They are only kidding themselves. This thing is a monster!

As much as it hurts me to not recommend the incredible SP404, I agree with those who suggest a looper pedal instead, like a guitarist-styled phrase sampler type pedal.

I have not tried this yet on my SX, but I think the answer to dishwater's question is that MFX24 on the SX is actually MFX23 on the regular 404...you will need to use the "DJ looper" effect on the face...again, have not tried, but just guessing it will be the same
