Re: Electribe Sampler, Electribe M.P.S, and Volca Sample
yes you have to give up one track up as the metronome sound file -
but remember on R8 you can import any track from any project to any other project.
You might have a "Drums" project - fill up the 7 tracks then bounce to a master - you can import that master into another project and so on...

Re: ZOOM R8 - Mini Multitracker/Sampler
I think it will do what you want - it has a Playlist function - you can queue up projects and jump from one to next - using accessory footswitch too - but there's no midi out - the timing between the R8 and yr SP will be entirely you.
check the manual at zoom.

Re: 404 CF card problem - Unable to switch on with card inserted
I had this happen -
I paid for Roland to service - they took payment - took it apart - and then returned it saying I now had a dedicated FX box : )
It wasn't worth the further work - and money - and was better to buy another.
I can still record on banks A and B - but that's it.

Re: HI Buying a new Zoom R8
Some points -
l
1) Zoom cut back on the edit functions from previous gear - for Trim, Loop Point setting the smallest division you can move is 1/4 (12/48) of a beat.
That will be too big for some fine slicing - you can trick the R8 by increasing the bpm to max 250 and making that 12/48 division ...

Re: Kaossilator 2
It is a fun box - it does some nice things that you wish the Pro could do - the arp settings are cool - but after you have spent some time with the pro I find the little yellow guy frustrating.
You can adjust volume of each instrument on pro before record - on the little one everything comes out ...

Ipod to SP404 midi tempo app
Hi,
I noticed Yamaha has a free faders app for ipod - there is a MIDI in and out rig you can buy that attaches directly thru the Ipod connection.
m
Anybody has any experience with this (?) - would be happy if it worked simply just as a Tempo BPM clock for my 404.

Re: ZOOM R8 - Mini Multitracker/Sampler
a recent discovery from the zoom board -
There is a dedicated metronome function track that sends its signal to Headphones out
- but you can assign one of your current loaded tracks (mono/or stereo) to that metronome track and send it out via phone out to an fx unit for real time glitching (kaoss ...

Re: ZOOM R8 - Mini Multitracker/Sampler
should be able to load your own drums easily - max 8 mono files as one shots.
can layer the stock drums and bounce to a one shot single file and assign to pads.
I am trying to get a grip on the trim function - it seems to divide its increments on the bpm and quantization (?? could be wildly wrong ...

Re: ZOOM R8 - Mini Multitracker/Sampler
sorry Ill,
i saw those vids myself last nite - wasn't trying to slam you on that.
I'm wrong anyway on the Insert effects - it seems you can use *some* of them on imported wavs.
manual now at -

Re: ZOOM R8 - Mini Multitracker/Sampler
I don't know where the "30 seconds sample time" is coming from.
It doesn't *seem* to work that way.
Firstly, it's an 8 track mono/4 track stereo recorder.
How do you get a sample into it?
2 ways - you can import directly via USB or you can record through the stereo inputs.

this app now released to psp - with lots more than the online vers - promise to later come to ipod(?)
don't sleep on it - its a great pocket sample library - small sequencer, synths and melody maker, cool little drum machines ...

Re: 404 slicer - what does it cut to?
gold in them thar hills - thanks for the info - I read in a mag if you get stuck for ideas and not feeling your samples to cut them up and then whack delays on the slices.
is it my imagination is the slicer performing a cleaner cut than doing one manually or moving marks using the start/end button ...
