yeah, I just use a 12 foot Hosa dual RCA to dual 1/4" cable most places i play. If you can avoid running your equipment into XLR jacks, do so.

However, sometimes you're playing a venue and they've got a cable snake on the stage floor, and the only open jacks are XLRs. So you do what you gotta do.

I usually use a drum machine, playing a basic version of the beat for the song im working on, at the proper tempo to match with my samples, and plug headphones into that to keep the beat when recording live instruments OR vocals into the 404. it's not perfect, but it's damn close, and since i'm ...

The 404 has a rehearsal mode during pattern sequencing. You just hit REC again while the pattern is running, and the screen changes to "REH". I went straight from a 202 to 404, so I've never sequenced on the 303. i'll see what happens on my boy's 303 later today and get back to ya. --D

have you tried initializing the 303? You hold down CANCEL, DEL, and REMAIN all at once while you turn the unit on, and let go when the display reads "INI". REC should be blinking. Press it, and about a minute later, the unit should be so fresh and so clean... clean. :D
