yeah, I just use a 12 foot Hosa dual RCA to dual 1/4" cable most places i play. If you can avoid running your equipment into XLR jacks, do so.

However, sometimes you're playing a venue and they've got a cable snake on the stage floor, and the only open jacks are XLRs. So you do what you gotta do.

I usually use a drum machine, playing a basic version of the beat for the song im working on, at the proper tempo to match with my samples, and plug headphones into that to keep the beat when recording live instruments OR vocals into the 404. it's not perfect, but it's damn close, and since i'm ...

or if you want that sample to always play for those 30 seconds... get your 404 manual and read up about the MARK button, and setting start and end points.

The 404 has a rehearsal mode during pattern sequencing. You just hit REC again while the pattern is running, and the screen changes to "REH". I went straight from a 202 to 404, so I've never sequenced on the 303. i'll see what happens on my boy's 303 later today and get back to ya. --D

man, i really dig your style. Ear Goggles is a fantastic track. whatever that "wyehh" (onomotopeia?) hit with the finger cymbal backup is you're using for accents at the end of bars is very effective. good melodic sampling too. keep it up! gonna listen to the rest of your playlist now. -- D

have you tried initializing the 303? You hold down CANCEL, DEL, and REMAIN all at once while you turn the unit on, and let go when the display reads "INI". REC should be blinking. Press it, and about a minute later, the unit should be so fresh and so clean... clean.

so many of my friends have ...

you don't have to worry about that. I am a firm believer in adhering to all ESD-safe requirements.

and, yeah, it doesn't seem good. but i'm looking for any constructive input i can get. i jumped straight from the SP-202 years ago to my new 404 after ...

...on this SP-303 i'm looking at for someone, the peak light comes on and stays on, and nothing shows up on the display.

that's it. the whole story. nothing happens when i press any of the buttons or pads. i've tried all the initialization buttonholding combos while powering up, with no success ...

i just repaired the main outs on my friend's 303. i ended up desoldering and removing the input/output jacks(which are all one block internally, in case anyone was interested) from the circuit board, disassembling and physically retensioning the springy connections inside the RCA jacks, and ...
