ok so i have a pattern set up exactly how i want it without the drums. i want to record drums over it from a real drum set. . .it wont let me record like that over a pattern i wud have to record on a sample pad but then the timing never ends up fitting cuz i cant play over the music, any ideas?

I hate the fact that you cant hear the music as you are trying to record. But thats because the 404 is only one track sequencer. What I did is Bought a cheap metronome. You could do that or buy one of those cheap hard-disk recorders from a drug store or something similar. They cost like 20-40 bucks and usually have a mic in, so you can record your pattern and then listen back to it while recording your drums. Good luck man.

I usually use a drum machine, playing a basic version of the beat for the song im working on, at the proper tempo to match with my samples, and plug headphones into that to keep the beat when recording live instruments OR vocals into the 404. it's not perfect, but it's damn close, and since i'm using phatty memory cards, i can record a vocal track onto one pad, then resample chop it to multiple pads by verse so i can match it up properly.
