when i flip the power switch...

Post by dizzo313 »

...on this SP-303 i'm looking at for someone, the peak light comes on and stays on, and nothing shows up on the display.

that's it. the whole story. nothing happens when i press any of the buttons or pads. i've tried all the initialization buttonholding combos while powering up, with no success.

i haven't opened it up yet to see if there's anything obviously physical wrong with the unit. thought it might be a better move to throw it out to the crowd here first.

so my question is this: has anyone else here experienced this same issue, and if so, did you satisfactorily resolve it, whether by some repair of your own, or through Roland's repair center, or what.

any input anyone has could help. thanks! -- D

If you open it up just be sure your wearing a grounding bracelet so you don't static fry the circuit board, sounds like it's pretty fucked already though.

you don't have to worry about that. I am a firm believer in adhering to all ESD-safe requirements. :D

and, yeah, it doesn't seem good. but i'm looking for any constructive input i can get. i jumped straight from the SP-202 years ago to my new 404 after a 5+ year hiatus from electronic music equipment, heck, from music entirely. i guess what i'm trying to say is, i don't know all that much about the 303, so i could use all the help i can get.

thanks! -- D

Word, I wish I could help more but I don't know anything about the 303 internals.
